Exploring the Feasibility of Integrating QSFP Connectors for 1GbE with Intel's TSE IP Core

Dear Intel support,

As RJ45 connectors are the most popular choice for a 1G Ethernet interface, we're exploring the feasibility of employing a QSFP connector (paired with breakout cables) with the "Triple Speed Ethernet IP Core from Intel" without requiring any FPGA modifications.  If this is feasible, kindly share the part number for the breakout cable.

Thanks

Hi,

May I know you are using which FPGA board?

Hi Zying,

We are using the Intel Agilex-7 (DK-SI-AGI027FA) evaluation board.

Thanks!

Hi,

Just to confirm that so your QSFP only will use up to 1G only? because I saw you mention about triple speed ethernet

Hi Zying,

Yes, our plan involves utilizing the QSFP connector on the Intel Agilex-7 (DK-SI-AGI027FA) evaluation board, along with an appropriate breakout cable, to establish a 1 GbE connection. We intend to employ the Triple Speed Ethernet IP Core within the FPGA fabric, which supports speeds up to 1GbE.

Thanks!

Hi,

Sorry about that I don't know the part number for the module. We have tested TSE on QSFP module, but not with a SFP Splitter. But it is expected to work.

Best regards,

zying
