IP License Question

How does one know which IP cores that come with Quartus and SOPC are free? Some of them seem to notify you regarding the lisence when you use them, but others dont. Is there a list or something somewhere where I can see which ones are 100% free without limitation?

If you are interested in the core, look up the user's guide on Altera.com. The user's guide usually specifies.

No, there is no easy way to determine this.

pp. 41-45 of Altera product catalog 2008 gives information on all the IP cores available from Altera and third party vendors. It also has information on licensing schemes for each of the IP. Here is the link to catalog: http://www.altera.com/literature/sg/product-catalog.pdf

All the IPs which are included under the list "Altera Megafunction library elements" are free. 2. IPs from Third-party vendors are not free 3. Altera Communications, DSP, Embedded Processor and Interfaces IPs are not free except for certain functions like FIR filter (which wasn't free a few years back but now comes bundled with QII) for which it is better that you consult an Altera representative.
