Random Number Generator IP for Quartus 18.0 and higher

I have a Quartus 17.0 design with random number generator IP.

I'm trying to upgrade the design to Quartus 18.0 or higher tool. Unfortunately, I'm not able to find the IP in the catalog as well

Is it possible to use the 17.0 IP in the higher versions?

Any alternative way?

Hi Vinay,

Please help me to get below details,

  1. Which Quartus edition is used(std/pro/lite)?
  2. Device(FPGA)/Kit used in project
  3. Do you have valid license?

-Thanks,

Vikas

  1. Quartus Prime 17.0 Standard Edition was used. I want to upgrade this design with Intel RNG IP to Quartus prime18.0 or higher versions (Standard Edition)
  2. Cyclone V FPGA (Custom Development Board)
  3. Yes, I have a valid license for the tools

Looks like the RNG IP is not present in Quartus V18 Lite as well as Std. Its normally found under DSP->Error Detection and Correction -> Random Number Generator

Yes, RNG IP isn't available under DSP->Error Detection and Correction -> Random Number Generator in 18.0!

How can I upgrade my design now?

Hi Vinay,

Please open project with proper device from Cyclone V family & then check for IP.

Yes, you can upgrade to 18.0 & higher version too.

Please find the screenshots & let me know if you have any concern.

Hmm... looks like the RNG is available only for select devices aka Cyclone V devices and is not available for Cyclone IV and older. Try selecting the exact Cyclone V device that you're using and check the IP catalog.
