We have a system in which we are using Altera TSE MAC IPCore to interface our processor to PHY IC (DP83822). This PHY IC is connected to external devices over Copper medium. We are successful in establishing this communication.
But when we replace this copper medium with SFP module, we are facing issues with communication interrupts.
Is it correct to replace the copper medium directly with SFP on the same setup?
Are there any specific configurations in TSE MAC/processor that are required specifically for connecting SFP modules?
Thanks in advance

I geuss you need to find a way to configure the external phy to fiber mode instead of copper mode. Check at the data sheet how to set this mode (either by pins or writing a register)
