I5-8265u frequency drop in games.

With i5-8265U I have been experiencing severe FPS drops whenever I run medium and heavy games. Drivers, directX and C++ are all updated but the processor frequency still drops. 4 cores and 8 threads with a maximum frequency of 3.7 GHz and when I run certain games everything drops to 1.4 GHz. Maybe I don't have complete command of the Bios, so that's why I need your help.

Hi, Jonh44.

Thank you for posting in our Community. Let me help you with regarding the FPS drop issue. May I know if you made any recent changes before encountering the issues? If yes, this might be the cause of dropping the FPS (frames per second). I would like to know if you are using an OEM laptop If possible, may I know the exact integrated graphics model that you are using?

As you already mentioned the model of the processor, with a maximum frequency of 3.7 GHz, but I would like to go one step further and confirm details such as OS build#, iGPU, and driver versions and see if there are errors logged. The Intel SSU logs can collect that info that can be helpful to me.

In the meantime, you may visit this link/article, (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/gaming/resources/how-to-fix-your-low-frame-rate.html), where you can find some tips to fix the low frame rate.

Looking forward to your response. Have a nice day ahead!
