Intel Graphics Command Center not allowing custom resolution with internal display on laptop

I was able to make custom resolutions in the past using the same laptop, however, after Intel removed the old Intel control panel and replaced it with the new Intel graphics command center it suddenly does not allow me to make custom resolutions anymore. What is the problem and is there any possible way to fix this problem?

Hello @nigel23

Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities. We would be more than glad to help you with your issue.

Based on our information, previous versions of the Intel Graphics Command Center showed the Custom Resolution setting for internal displays but did not actually allow a custom resolution to be applied, therefore the Custom Resolution setting was removed. This is considered to be expected behavior.

Intel cannot and never has been able to extend support for custom resolutions on internal driver displays due to hardware limitations.

Custom resolution is available for external monitors: How to Set Custom Resolutions and Modes in Intel® Graphics Command Center.

Your "custome resolution" is a joke right now. You can't even type what exactly resolution you want, all we have is 2 dumb sliders that are not in pixels but in measure such as 0-100 which is dumb...

As you can see in the screenshot below, I was able to make a custom resolution of 800x600 a few months ago using this intel graphics command center. I only had to download the Intel graphics command center because my Intel Graphics Control Panel suddenly disappeared from my laptop. Is there a way to download the old intel graphics control panel because I was able to make custom resolutions even using an internal display? Are there any other solutions as I do not want to use any 3rd party software.

Hello @nigel23

Thank you for your reply.

As far as we can see, the Intel® Graphics Control Panel has been discontinued and was replaced by the Intel Graphics Command Center, as you can see in this article: “Discontinuation of the Intel® Graphics Control Panel from the Microsoft* Store.” Based on that there is no way to get the old control panel. That means, that all the features available for resolution customization were moved to the IGCC. However, I will try to help you further, but I cannot guarantee there will be a fix or update in the next releases.

Please provide me with the following reports:

IGCC Report: Follow these steps to generate an Intel® Graphics Driver report for the Intel® Graphics Control Panel or the Intel® Graphics Command Center. Report for Intel® Graphics Drivers.

SSU: Please download and scan your system using our tool, Intel® System Support Utility so we can help check your system info first. Once finished downloading, open the tool, click on scan 'Everything', click next, then save the system information to a .txt file. Please provide the .txt file.

This document will be necessary to check your entire system, in order to find possible errors or incompatibilities.

Hello @nigel23

Thank you for your patience.

According to our information, as we said before, we don't support custom resolutions on internal displays, Intel cannot and never has been able to extend support for custom resolutions on internal driver displays due to hardware limitations.

We don't provide older IGCC versions and if you do not want to use a 3rd party software, we suggest you go to OEM for more assistance regarding its display and hardware configuration.

We will proceed to close this thread. Please keep in mind that this thread will no longer be monitored by Intel. Thank you for your understanding.
