I have a i7 1165g7 with iris xe 96, In every game I have played so far, it has been fine, but with Fortnite in a actual game (not customs) it lags like crazy and also freezes quiet a bit. Is this a driver issue, or a issue with my iris xe?

Hello UserRandom,
Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I am sorry to know that you are having issues with your Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics.
In order to better assist you, please provide the following:
1. Run the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) to gather more details about the system.
- Download the Intel® SSU and save the application on your computer: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/18377/intel-system-support-utility-for-windows.html
- Open the application, check the "Everything" checkbox, and click "Scan" to see the system and device information. The Intel® SSU defaults to the "Summary View" on the output screen following the scan. Click the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".
- To save your scan, click Next and click Save.
2. Is this issue recent? Or, was it present from the first time you played the game?
3. Did you make any hardware/software changes before the issue was present?
Regards,
Deivid A.

I've always had this issue from the first time I downloaded the game. However I do not have problems in any other games such as Valorant. I also have 8gb of ram and the latest iris xe graphics driver. I also have no problems using emulators and non fps games. I play Fortnite on lowest pre-set at performance mode.

Hello UserRandom,
Thanks for your response. In this case, I recommend you test the graphics drivers from Asus.
If the issue persists, try one more time a clean install of the Intel drivers.

I found out the reason I was getting so much lag was because my gpu usage was quiet low on performance mode at low graphics, and it would often drop to 1-3% a lot, causing a lot of freezes, I changed the graphics settings to high, with epic view distance and now its mostly consistent around 60% usage drops 1ns or 2wice at the start of a game and stutters a lot less. the stuttering is because it is at high graphics which can be quiet intensive for a igpu. I'm just wondering why does the gpu usage drop so much on low graphics at performance mode. And 1 more thing. When I try to change to directx 12 and restart the game, its on DirectX 11, and when I do the same process again, it's still on DirectX 11 and won't change to DirectX 12. There is no incompatibility issue or anything like that. It just won't change to DirectX 12 for some reason.

Since the thread is now solved, we will proceed to close it. Please keep in mind that this thread will no longer be monitored by Intel. In case you experience another issue with the game, please contact the game developers.
