Valorant Lag

How can I address the issue of the game Valorant lagging in the first few minutes/rounds. I just bought this laptop with the latest processor about 6 months back, it should not be lagging. It worked smoothly in the first few months but has started lagging now. I have tried to run various troubleshooters, updated all graphics drivers reinstalled them but they have not provided a solution. Here are the details of my system configuration:

  • Operating System: Windows 11

  • Processor: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1235U 1.30 GHz

  • RAM: 8 GB

  • System Type: 64-bit operating system

  • Graphics Card - Intel Iris Xe Graphics
  • Laptop - Hp fq5111tu

Any guidance or recommendations to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Sambhav,

Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities. We would be more than glad to help you with your issue.

To better assist you on this matter, we would like to request the following information:

  • Since you mentioned that the system worked smoothly before, do you recall if there was a software or hardware update before the issue started?
  • Is this issue only present when playing Valorant?
  • After you play the first rounds, does the game start working as expected?
  • Did you check if there are any other applications (with a heavy workload) running in the background?
  • Also, we would like to ask for more system information. Please create a system report using the Intel System Support Utility (Intel SSU).
    • Download the Intel SSU
    • Open the application and click "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel SSU will take you to the "Summary View."
    • Click on the menu where it says: "Summary" to change it to "Detailed View."
    • To save your scan: click "Next"; then "Save."

Hi, Thanks for the response

  • I don't as such exactly recall a hardware or software update before it started lagging.
  • I currently only play Valorant I my laptop so yes it's only Valorant lagging.
  • In the first few rounds, the fps drops like crazy straight from 70 to 2-5, after a few rounds the fps does drop but in long intervals.
  • Yea I checked, there were no heavy load programs working in the background.
  • I have uploaded the system report below.

Hello Sambhav,

Thank you for the information provided.

Checking your system report, we noticed that your system is up to date. However, since the issue is present with the latest Driver from HP, we would like to recommend you test with our latest version, 31.0.101.4369. There are two different types of drivers, generics provided by Intel and Equipment Manufacturer drivers, that are customized to work with each specific system. Intel Generic drivers are for testing purposes. To install our latest driver, you should perform a clean driver installation process.

Also, we recommend you turn on the Vignette option in the game settings to reduce stuttering.

Best regards,
