AW3423DFW screen resolution switched from 3440x1440 to 2560x1440 as the recommended setting

The natural screen resolution switched to a lower resolution and now looks stretched on the screen. I’ve gone as far as I can between removing and updating drivers(intel UHD 770), downloading different intel programs to add the resolution back at the recommended refresh rate, different cables updating the monitor. I’m at a loss. It’s weird that the native monitor resolution settings would disappear randomly in the middle of the day and switch to the next lowest setting.

That's indeed strange.

Dell Alienware AW3423DWF
3440 x 1440 @ 165 Hz (DisplayPort 1.4)
3440 x 1440 @ 100 Hz (HDMI 2.0)

Please describe the device running the UHD770. Is it an OEM computer or a custom-built device? Make and model, or the motherboard make and model?

It’s my brother’s computer. I was looking at it during vacation. All I can remember is that it had the intel symbol on the front and it’s using an I7 with 16gb of RAM. I never did get the chance to check the HDMI port for compatibility. Looking at the logs for updates it seems like it started after an update.

Please recommend your brother to check if the computer has a DisplayPort output. I would recommend connecting this monitor using a DisplayPort cable.
