Intel ARC Control keeps crashing explorer.exe
My PC has one monitor attached to the GPU (NVIDIA RTX3060) and a TV attached to the HDMI 1 of the motherboard (ASUS B560M-A) iGPU (Intel(R) UHD Graphics 730) (CPU 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-11400 @ 2.60GHz).
If I boot up with the TV attached, Intel Arc Control refuses to launch even with ALT+I. ALT+O opens a blank shell performance window with no numbers. Explorer.exe keeps crashing randomly with the error in the event viewer log below.
If I boot up without the TV attached then connect the HDMI cable to HDMI 1 of the iGPU I can launch the Intel Arc Control Panel ALT+I performance overlay as well as the Performance Telemetry ALT+O however it freezes after about an hour or so and crashes explorer.exe with the same event.
Additionally, one cannot duplicate displays on the monitor and TV even if both are set to the same refresh rate. The Option in WIN+P is present but does nothing. The option in WIN+I>System>Display is not present. I had this same issue with my laptop that also had an NVIDIA GTX1060 Intel Core i7-8750H.
I think by now after seeing the same issue on multiple systems we can safely say Intel Processors are not fully compatible with NVIDIA GPU's. The only temp solution to duplicate displays is to disable the Intel UHD Graphics device from device manager.

Hello KarichiMoto,
Thank you for reaching out regarding the issue you're experiencing with Intel Arc Control. This type of error is often related to software or driver issues. Intel Arc Control is specifically designed to work with Intel's own graphics hardware, such as Intel Arc GPUs and integrated Intel graphics. Using it with a non-Intel discrete GPU, like an NVIDIA RTX 3060, is not supported and may lead to compatibility issues.
If you have an NVIDIA GPU, it's best to use NVIDIA's own software, such as GeForce Experience, for managing your display, graphics settings, and updates.
While there are some limitations, please try the following initial recommendations. These steps are provided because, upon researching, this processor is included in the supported units. However, I need to ensure that you are also using a supported operating system, which is why the SSU log report is important.
- Uninstall the current version and then download and install the latest version from Intel's website.
- Check for Windows Updates to make sure your operating system is fully updated.

Good Day RandyT,
It took so long to get a reply I stopped checking the post regularly.
1. I am using WIN 11 22H2 and I have tried reinstalling the drivers TWICE removing fully with DDU in safe mode.
2. The system is fully up to date.

If you have an NVIDIA GPU, it's best to use NVIDIA's own software, such as GeForce Experience, for managing your display, graphics settings, and updates.
So the official recommendation from Intel is to disable the Intel UHD Graphics 730 from device manager, not plug any displays into the motherboard's HDMI ports and put a sticky note on the box the processor came in marked "**".
Okay, understood. Our company will be buying AMD CPU's for use with our NVIDIA GPU's from now on if Intel CPU's are not compatible with NVIDIA GPU's.
Thank you for being honest about Intel's limitations, shortcomings and incompatibility with anything except Intel ARC GPU's.
Your response has been screenshotted and emailed to our management team for review.
Warm Regards,
Karichi Moto
