Hello,
Ever since ArmA 3 was released as an alpha back in March, it plagued me (and quite a few others) with these apparently random DirectX 11 crashes (either freezing or CTD):
"D3D Error - DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED"
"Display Driver Stopped Responding and has recovered."
A few days ago I, acting on a hunch, installed an old driver (15.28.7.64.2867) from October(?) 2012 and was able to play the game without any crashes in area's/maps that were unplayable before.
Working my way up (I have some, but not all drivers released) I found that the drivers up to 9.17.10.2932 (December 2012) perform flawlessly, while 9.18.10.3071 (March 2013) and later tend to suffer from this issue.
So while installing the latest drivers is recommended as a starting point for every glitch, in this case it is not going to get you anywhere: it seems that every iteration has inherited a flaw that was introduced somewhere during that period (December 2012 - March 2013).
I hope this in some way helps you to tackle this issue, and allows me to have my graphics driver up to date in the near future...
These 'tests' were performed, ceteris paribus, on this machine:
Intel i7-3770K@3500|3900 (HD 4000@1150)
MSi Z77A-GD65 (UEFI: 10.11ß)
32GB Corsair Vengeance@1600
Windows 8.1_x64
All drivers were up to date.

Hello, 2 days ago i Got this driver https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24592/Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-8-1-32-bit Intel® Download Center And I still have the same issue with D3D Error - DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
Im looking for a downgrade that works but it was unsuccessfull, today I got this https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24346/Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-8-1-32-bit Intel® Download Center and I will test it later at night Im using the lastest update of the game (but it failed too with previous versions).
The game is about a war in two islands, one is small and the other one is huge, I noticed that the problems are more frequent int the bigger islan and even more when the game needs to render a big amount of data in a short time, a cut scene ar a new mission in the air or in a plane when the video card need to render quick big amounts of information
Thank you in advance
PD:
This is my dx diag

Thanks, but mean while Intel take its time (2 years and counting) to solve the problem, can you just provide a link for the old driver that Beelzebassie 29/11/2013 16:26
reported as fuctional?
Thank you in advance

Thank you very much Robert_Uand kevin_intel for the support.
The driver that you provided didn´t work on my laptop (unknown reason maybe 32-64 bits thing) but with the complete version number (9.17.10.2932) I was able to find working links:
32-Bits Win7/8 http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=6C95R Intel HD, HD 2000/2500/3000/4000 Windows7/8 32-bit Driver Driver Details | Dell US
64-Bits Win7/8 http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=GVR6H Intel HD, HD 2000/2500/3000/4000 Windows7/8 64-bit Driver Driver Details | Dell US
I had to un compress the installer file (3011_Video_Driver_6C95R_WN_9.17.10.2932_A12.EXE) to a folder using 7zip software and had to install the driver manually because the installer told me that "your computer does not meet the minimum requirements"
http://www.tp-link.com/no/article/?id=228 How to Manually Install Adapters on Windows 7 - Welcome to TP-LINK (like this but with video adapter)
Today I made a fast test with a specific map that was giving me problems and every thing went fine (Prologue -> Damage control mission).
I will perform a better test on weekend to see if every thing work fine as Beelzebassie reported in the list of drivers he made.

Hi Robert. Any information on a release date ? This bug exist for almost 3 years now.
Is there a way to install the working driver on a Windows 8.1 with my Intel iris 6100 ? When I try, it says that it is not compatible.
Can I install it with my hardware on a Windows 8.0 ?
Maybe it's possible to create a version of the latest driver for the 6100 including the fix ?
Thanks,
Christophe

@ Christophe, We do not have a release date at this time. The engineering work on a resolution is currently still in progress. I will post a notification to this thread as soon as a resolution is available.
Thanks

Ok. During the resolution, is there a way to install the old working driver on the new 6100 ? (Compatibility issue)
This issue is "under investigation" for almost 3 years now. Every single post is closed by the mention "We will let you know when the issue is fixed".
I'm a bit scared of never beeing able to play my favorites games at all. Please can we find a solution ?

Hello,
I'm sure you have a lot of experimented engineers working on this, but may I help you ?
I'm a software engineer as well, so if you can provide a debug version of your latest driver, I can give you logs, stack traces and call stacks of the crash.
It has something related to a specific environnent, and I would be happy to help you out.
Best regards,
Christophe

Do we have news yet. I haven't tried driver 2932 yet. But I would like to see a stable solution from the Intel team. Do we have anything yet?

As Beelzebassie reported, the drivers http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=6C95R Intel HD, HD 2000/2500/3000/4000 Windows7/8 32-bit Driver Driver Details | Dell US and http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=GVR6H Intel HD, HD 2000/2500/3000/4000 Windows7/8 64-bit Driver Driver Details | Dell US are givving me no problems related to DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
The game itself have some problems, some video glitches and bugs but I think those needs to be reported to the game support center not to intell, I've benn playing for almos a week without DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED so I can play atleast 1 hour without problems (before downgrade I was only able to play 10 minutes)
- Hope this works. Thank you:
Hello, First you need to install 7zip software from here http://www.7-zip.org/ http://www.7-zip.org/
Next you need to download
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=6C95R Intel HD, HD 2000/2500/3000/4000 Windows7/8 32-bi...
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=GVR6H Intel HD, HD 2000/2500/3000/4000 Windows7/8 64-bi...
(Whatever your system is 32 or 64)
After download, right click the downloaded driver an choose 7zi-Uncompress to (Whatever folder you want)
Next follow this tutorial: http://www.tp-link.com/no/article/?id=228 How to Manually Install Adapters on Windows 7 - W... But in step 9 you will provide the folder where you uncompressed the intel driver and in step 10 you will choose "Intel HD4000"
Follow all the steps to the end and that shoul be good.
I still have some crashing problems, but none related to driver, I can play for at least 1 hour, before I was only able to play only 10- 20 minutes

Hi All,
There's a new sticky with the information required to properly investigate bugs. Could someone experiencing this issue get it in a failing state and provide the details from the sticky? I have two techs I'm aligning to get the proper attention on this, they're trying to replicate this and have not been able to so far. Hoping your information could help us so we can get this moving. Appreciate it!
Additionally one of the techs asked for game settings. See his post above post# 36

Thanks MrRexeh!
We've set up our system and we're unable to see the failure. We're instead seeing the game hang and we can't get to the point of any error. Seeing if any of you've seen this and/or if you all have any ideas how to get around this. Much appreciated.
Dev notesI did not get a chance to run the game (Gunships - Showcase) for hours, as it hangs before the soldier in the truck is even seen.
I checked with following System configuration again:
Platform : HSW
OS : Win8.1 64Bit
Driver : 10.18.10.4252
RAM : 6 GB
Display : Dell S2440L(Analog)
Resolution : 1920 x 1080
Game version : 1.48.131645
With this setup also there is same behavior, game hangs at "Gunships - Showcase".
Also played "Multiplayer – Altis" for more than an hour, this runs smoothly.

All,
Could you uninstall the Intel graphics driver, retest this and provide your results?
We're now seeing the failure on a GT3 configuration in windowed mode without the Intel driver installed. This indicates this is not an Intel Graphics issue but perhaps an app issue. I'd like to confirm you're seeing the same thing.
