BSOD when installing the latest (3316) driver in Windows 8.1 Pro.

Hi guys,

I updated my system yesterday from Win7 Ultimate (x64) to Win 8.0 Pro then 8.1Pro and everything was running fine until I tried to install the latest Intel driver.

I tried the one from the Microsoft Update. That one just fails to install properly, pure and simple.

So I downloaded the latest from the Intel Site (15.33.5.64.3316 x64 Windows 8.1) however when I install that one, I am getting a BSOD and Windows 8.1 will not boot properly anymore after that.

I know how to fix that (I did it yesterday, and need to do that again because I tried again) by reverting back to the previous correct configuration but this is definitively not good.

Configuration:

Intel I7 3770K HD4000

NVIDIA GeForce Titan

16GB Ram.

Windows 8.1 Pro X64.

Both HD4000 and Titan have a monitor connected.

Looking forward a new driver

Best Regards,

Laurent

I guess next thing to try will be to remove the previous driver completely before doing the update..

Something for tonight.

And what driver is meant when you say previous driver?

My previous driver is the 9.18.10.3257.

(From Microsoft?)

And here is my DXDiag dump output. If that helps.

I tried to disable my GTX TITAN, same issue.

I tried various settings in the BIOS too. Same. It either fails to install via Microsoft Update or BSOD from the Intel Website installer.

Laurent.
