Black screen after installing 8.15.10.2086

Add me to the list of people who get a black screen....

HP G60t-200CTO

Windows 7 64 bit.

I uninstalled the previous intel driver (8.15.10.1986) and installed 8.15.10.2086.. and got a black screan... grrr... Other older intel drivers have worked just fine so I don't agree that it's a special vendor bios issue.

Unfortunately there is not much I can do as I do not have access to your system for debug. At this point contacting ACER would be your best option for resolution of the issue you are having with the system. You should be able to request recovery disks from ACER to restore your system to it's factory condition. You may also want to check with where you purchased the system to see if they have the recovery disks available.

There is also a forum that may be of help It appears there is a lot of ACER contact on the Forum. The address for the Forum is , http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f108/ http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f108/

I think yours is a different issue. I would suggest a new thread and start with all the details, system configuration, specs, steps to reproduce, etc.

New driver (2182) didn't fix it for me either. I have a custom built desktop system with HP ZR24W monitor and PCIE DisplayPort card. I have to use onboard VGA connection to the monitor.

Your also looks like a different issue. Same suggestion here,, start a new thread and let see where it goes.

Robert,

I did not have a LCD monitor or laptop and still had a problem. My problem was different in that the black screen only happened sometimes and rebooting would fix it. Please see my original post. I now have a LCD monitor since I made that post and so far it hasn't happened. I will download the new version anyway and see what happens.

I don't seem to be able to install the updated 2182 drivers on my Dell Optiplex 780 machine. I get a message saying that the drivers have not been validated and to obtain drivers from the manufacturer.

Dell has onle the v2057 drivers available. We are pursuing a resolution through Dell as well as through Intel (here).

The -override/-overwrite switch didn't allow the drivers to install.

My organization has several thousand machines with the Series 4/G45 onboard video chipset, and we are experiencing the black screen issue on many of those machines.

Hi Brian

You have an OEM customized graphics driver on your system and by default,, the generic Intel version wont overwrite it. However, there is a way to install the generic driver but be aware you may loose some OEM features. If you want to install the generic driver please see: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-022355.htm http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-022355.htm

Just to add my experiences to this thread in case they're of any help to anyone else.

System Spec:

* Gigabyte H57M-USB3 Rev 1.0 Motherboard

* Kingston value RAM 1333 4GB

* Intel core i3-530

* Samsung E2320 LCD monitor

* Samsung HD103UJ OEM 1TB Hard Drive

* Windows 7 Starter Edition 32-bit

I did the following: * Installed win 7 on my blank hard drive

* PC was connected to the monitor with DVI cable

* Started windows updates running in the background including install of Intel HD graphics

* Installed monitor drivers and Magic Tune off the Samsung CD (I can't remember what order I installed the Samsung software and the Intel HD graphics though as I was doing things fairly randomly in a short space of time)

I rebooted & it all worked - display was running fine at 1920x1080

Some days later, I had a Win 7 black screen of death caused by a power glitch to my router of all things & system seemed to be unstable after that so I decided (stupidly) to re-install Windows as my previous install was fairly new anyway. That's when the trouble started - after the re-install, I got the symptoms described in this thread, installed the Intel HD graphics, rebooted and screen went black after the Windows logo. Only way to use the PC was to rollback to a previous system restore point and then use the default Windows VGA adapter at low res.

I tried lots of different things all to no avail (spent a whole day doing it):

* installing different versions of HD graphics - e.g. the version downloaded by Windows update, the version that shipped with the motherboard utility CD (and a version from the Gigabyte motherboard support site), different versions from Intel

* tried installing the Samsung monitor drivers before Intel HD and vice versa

* tried full Windows 7 re-installs

etc.

Nothing worked - always the black screen of death (well, to be more precise, I think there was no output going to the monitor because it was toggling between the analog/digital screen saver type display it reverts to when no input).

I also have another Hard Drive in my system with Ubuntu 10.04 installed (which I'd created months before) and that's never given me any monitor display problems at all - resolution is fine and it worked it all out by itself with no input from me.

This current thread also mentions EDID issues with certain monitors - i.e. their config is not setup correctly and they report their capabilities incorrectly to Windows. There is a way to override a monitor's EDID settings in the registry (Microsoft has posted a document describing the process) and there's even a way to flash the EEPROM in the monitor, however they both seemed to be very geeky options I didn't really want to try & I had no hard evidence in any

case that my monitor's EDID was wrong.

So I read and re-read this thread, did some more Googling, and then I came across this thread: /thread/11126;jsessionid=A02217816DE202835381C6DD378860ED.node6COM http://communities.intel.com/thread/11126;jsessionid=A02217816DE202835381C6DD378860ED.node6COM

It has posts talking about this issue, but mentions using D-Sub or DVI cables with different results. So I pulled out the DVI cable, and plugged in a D-Sub cable, booted the PC, installed the Intel HD Graphics from Windows Update, rebooted and hey presto - it worked! The monitor automatically adjusted itself to the correct resolution and it worked fine. After that, I tried plugging in the DVI cable again and booting up - and suprise, suprise, it also worked.

In conclusion, it looks to me like there is some kind of conflict in the hardware - either in how the monitor is setup, or in the signal that's coming off the DVI output - it's a certain combination of hardware and software that caused it (at least in my case). Once the Intel HD graphics installed cleanly, and the system calibrated itself, it seemed to be OK.

FYI - the version of Intel HD Graphics installed by Windows Update (which is now working for me) was: 8.5.10.2189 dated 28/7/2010

Hi there !

Got the same problem, but it definitely is a driver problem. Using the Win7Vista_64_15221.exe screen will got blank and blink from time to time. Using the Win7Vista_64_15218.exe makes everything run smooth.

Will have a try with the Win7Vista_64_15223.exe...

Bye

Win7Vista_64_15218.exe can't solve my problem...the problem is the same, where is intel support??

I think is it a driver problem.

Hi, I got the same issue with 15.22.1.64.2361 (P8H67-M Pro / Windows 7 64b) .

Installing the latest driver from the Intel webpage or the one from Windows Update cause a black screen and after 1min a BSOD, only VGA works or booting in safe mode of course.

If I install the graphic driver from the Asus Homepage everything works fine for me. But an official confirmaton that this is caused by the intel driver would be good.

thanks
