I have an HP Envy 750-424 desktop with an Intel HD 530 graphics driver. This morning Windows automatically updated the graphics driver, and Chrome stopped working with an OpenGL ES Error dialog box stating "Can't find the name of the Intel ICD OpenGL driver." I rolled back the driver from 21.20.16.4574 to 20.19.15.4454 and it fixed the issue. However, I suspect Windows will keep automatically updating the driver and causing this issue (it happened once before, with a different version number, and I was able to fix it with System Restore, so it seems to be a recurring problem). I have seen in other discussions that some drivers are provided by Intel and some are customized by manufacturers--is 21.20.16.4574 provided by Intel or by HP? Is this a bug that will be addressed ina future driver version?
Thanks,

Settings > Update > Windows Insider.
Join, and then select fast ring. You will get the latest version. But be careful! Every two week comes a new version and it is usually more than 1 GB. And there might be other bugs as it is a "Preview" version.

You can try installing the graphics drivers manually.
Download the zip version and follow steps linked below:

Hi Allan,
Thanks for the follow up.
No, I am still facing the same issue. Not able to install the drivers manually and with current settings the application that I am trying to launch is failing due to OpenGL Issue.

Hi all,
Intel has gathered all this type of feedback for further investigation and we appreciate all this reports and information, however; we were trying to replicate the same problem but this has been unsuccessful at this stage.
We have noticed that some of you are currently running unreleased Windows® 10 builds and this type of issues are managed by Microsoft*, our recommendation would be contacting https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus/ Microsoft* support and report this problem as part of the Windows Insider Program.
Intel will continue developing drivers that will work for future Windows® builds but at this moment, Intel recommends you keep checking our https://downloadcenter.intel.com/ https://downloadcenter.intel.com/ for next graphics drivers releases.
Allan.

I tried running a "JNLP" file 'discover' (please check the attachment for file) and received OpenGL error (screenshot attached) hence checked the Intel Forums for resolution and came across one response from Intel asking to download version 4590 drivers. After downloading when I tried to run the application I still see the same error

Hello CindyWangSH and ThisIsRob,
I have been trying to replicate this issue but no luck yet. In the mean time, Microsoft* already released the next major service pack for Windows 10*, known as Creators Update.
Can you help me to confirm if your system already has this new OS build installed?
In addition, please try with a clean graphics driver installation by following these steps:
1. Disconnect from the Internet (so Windows* Update doesn't install the driver automatically).
2. Open "Device Manager" and expand "Display Adapters".
3. Right-Click on the "Intel Graphics Controller" and select "Uninstall Device"
4. Make sure you check the box "Delete the driver software for this device".
Note: If your computer also has a discrete graphics card, uninstall its driver as well.
5. Restart
6. Open "Device Manager" and confirm that under "Display Adapters" you see "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter". If you still see an Intel Graphics Controller, repeat steps 3, 4 and 5.
7. Run the installer for the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26669 latest Intel drivers.
Note: Since the Intel drivers should already installed at this point, proceed to install the drivers for the discrete graphics card (if available).
8 Reconnect to the Internet.
9. Check if the issue persists.
If you still see the error message, please run http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000022556.html DxDiag and send us the new results file for further analysis.
Kindest Regards,
Ronald M.

Hi, Ronald
I tried every step, and the issue is still there.
There is a difference in step 6, Open "Device Manager" , I didn't find Display Adapters after step 3,4 and 5.
Attached the new DxDiag file for your reference.
Thanks
Cindy

Hi Cindy,
Thank you very much for taking the time to troubleshoot this issue.
I reviewed the new DxDiag.txt file that you kindly sent to me, and I can see that your OS build shows as "Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 14393) (14393.rs1_release_inmarket.161004-2338)". I think that this is an unreleased Windows 10 build that some users received for being part of the https://insider.windows.com/ Windows Insider Program
I would suggest checking your Windows Update* configuration to make sure you receive the latest Windows 10* build, which should be within the lines of rs2_release.1703, also known as Creators Update.
For more information about obtaining this update you can visit this web site: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/instantanswers/d4efb316-79f0-1aa1-9ef3-dcada78f3fa0/get-the-windows-10-creators-update Get the Windows 10 Creators Update
Would this fix the issue with the error "Can't find the name of the Intel ICD OpenGL driver"? Honestly, I'm not sure at this point, but I am trying to find that specific detail that triggers the error on your system, while in our systems it doesn't - even if we use the same Graphics driver -
I look forward to your reply.
Kindest Regards,
Ronald M.

Hello Intel!
I've got the same issue as a bunch of other people had. Simply, I'm getting the error message "Can't find the name of the Intel ICD OpenGL driver." pretty much everytime I try to run an .exe file that's a game or similarly. However, what I did to TEMPORARILY solve this issue was to instead install and run the program on my laptop's (2016/2017 laptop) SSD, and not the large HDD.
I'm not sure if this is to any help but as this actually did change the situation it could give you a hint of what's causing this error. Furthermore, I saw in another forum that someone has solved it by reinstalling an older version of an Intel Driver.
Anyways, please solve this issue. My SSD is not large and therefore I need to be able to run programs from my D:-disk too.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
StudentL

Hello StudentL,
This is a very interesting situation, and one that I didn't consider during my previous testing.
I'll go ahead and try installing the applications you all mentioned on a separate partition (i.e. not the C:\ drive) and give it another round of testing.
I'll try to have an update by next week.
Thank you very much for your feedback.

Hello Everyone,
I have been trying with different configurations to replicate this error message while launching the applications you have all mentioned, and so far I haven't been able to get the same error.
During my testing, I used the latest https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26772 15.45 driver, build 4664 on Windows 10* Professional Creators Update (rs2_release.1703).
The latest test cycle included the latest feedback provided by StudentL, which had me installing the applications in a different disk partition (i.e. other than "C:\"), but as I mentioned, I could not get the error to appear.
I regret asking for more of you, but there must be something in your systems triggering this error that we haven't been able to identify. I'm not ruling out a driver issue, it is just that I need to find out how to effectively make it fail so our developers can work on it. Can you see if the Windows Event Log shows more details? Perhaps sending me the event log details?
In the mean time, I'll continue to explore other possibilities (e.g. right now I'm thinking if perhaps this occurs only on systems with hybrid graphics = Intel Graphics + Nvidia* graphics).
Kindest Regards,
Ronald M.

I had this problem about 1 month ago and tried many fix methods for my case. A lot of people that had this problem fixed it by downgrading the intel drivers to older versions, but in my case its 7gen so I was unable to downgrade it to the versions that didnt have this problem.
I managed to fix it by uninstalling intel hd drivers (which didnt work), but when I updated windows to the creators update with the intel drivers uninstalled, the error was gone.
Today I was trying to help a guy that have this exact problem, but he already got the windows creators update installed, so I connected the monitor to the motherboard to check my intel driver (didnt remember I had it deleted) and it automatically installed it, which made the error to appear again.
I tried to uninstall again the drivers, update it to latest version but now I cant fix the problem again....
Any suggestions on how can I fix it please?
Thanks.

Hello charkus,
Please attach the http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000022556.html Dxdiag of the system(s) showing this error. In addition:
- Which applications are showing the error?
- Is there any set of steps that need to be followed while the application is running to replicate the error?
- What is the location of each application's installation folder?
Thanks for your feedback, once I have this information hopefully I'll be able to provide more suggestions.

Dear Ronald,
I am trying to open gephi for homework purposes but when the system is trying to open this program I receive the message "Can't find the name of Intel ICD OpenGL driver" .
I have read all communications here and also I tried to install the driver as per some of your comments (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26772/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-45-?product=88194 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26772/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-45-?product=88194 ) but when trying I received an error indicated in the following link https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005469.html Error Message: Computer Manufacturer Graphics Driver Detected , so something is not correct.
My laptop is a Intel core i7 6500U CPU @ 2.50GHZ 2.60 GHZ, 8GB RAM and procesor x64, I wonder if you can help me to solve my issue, please?
Thanks,
Susan

Hello Susan,
The error you receive happens because your computer manufacturer prevents the installation of generic drivers (i.e. only install drivers coming from the computer manufacturer). In order to install generic drivers, you would need to try a manual installation. Instructions (including a video tutorial) can be found here: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005629.html Manually Install an Intel® Graphics Driver in Windows® 10 and Windows...
Can you also let me know more details about your computer? You can try getting the http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000022556.html DxDiag.txt and post it here.
I look forward to hearing from you again.
Regards,
Ronald M.
