I have a problem creating a virtual VGA monitor using IntelHD 5000. I tested on 3 notebooks
it has no problem to create the virtual VGA display on v10.18.10.x, but no luck on v10.18.14.x (using windows screen resolution setting screen, press the detect button and select the "try to connect to : VGA").
- Intel HD 4000, Win8.1 x64, VGA driver 10.18.10.3304, works good
- Intel HD 5000, Win8.1 x64, VGA driver 10.18.10.3540, works good, too
- Intel HD 5000, Win8.1 x64 VGA driver 10.18.4170~4251, cannot create virtual VGA display anymore
Can someone help me to check this issue?
Thanks.

Hello
Could you please let me know the model of the notebook you are trying to create the Virtual VGA Display?
Please take into consideration the fact https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25232/Intel-Iris-Iris-Pro-and-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-8-1-64bit Download Intel® Iris™, Iris™ Pro, and HD Graphics Driver for Windows* 7/8/8.1 64bit these software drivers are generic versions and can be used for general purposes. However, computer original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) may have altered the features, incorporated customizations, or made other changes to the software or software packaging they provide. To avoid any potential installation incompatibilities on your OEM system, Intel recommends that you check with your OEM and use the software provided by your system manufacturer. Intel and the computer original equipment manufacturer (OEM) may not provide technical support for some or all issues that could arise from the usage of this generic version of software drivers.

hi Caesar,
Briefly speaking, do you know how to create the virtual VGA display under Surface Pro 3 (Win 10)?
Does any undocumented registry setting for us to re-enable this feature?
Thanks,
BinBin

comparing the differences between 10.18.10.3304 and 10.18.10.4170
show some changes have being made to the driver install script (igdlh64.inf) https://www.diffchecker.com/ajqn5e7w https://www.diffchecker.com/ajqn5e7w
the main difference i can see is the removal of
HKR,, EnableFakeTV, %REG_DWORD%, 01- Mark as New

Hello BinBinTsai
I understand the option for adding a Virtual Monitor was not enabled on Windows* 10.
As an alternative, the easiest way I found (as an alternative for Windows* 10 is not what we are used to refer as a "fake display") is called "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_desktop Virtual Desktop".
Currently, Windows* 10 allows us to have multiple desktops, I added 10+ and could continue on the Surface 3*.
Please follow these steps in order to create and switch through the "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_desktop Virtual Desktops":
1- Attach a USB keyboard to your Surface Pro 3*(Running Windows 10*).
2- Press Win+Tab keys simultaneously. (You will see all of your active programs adjusted. In the same screen, bottom right corner, you will see Add Desktop functionality. and you may Click it).
3- The new generated desktop is not a "fake". It is designed for multi-tasking. It shares desktop icons, however, it does not share the programs of them.
Here are the keyboard shortcuts for quickly managing virtual desktops:
1- Windows Key + Ctrl + D /Creates a new virtual desktop and switch to it immediately.
2- Windows Key + Ctrl + F4 /Closes the current virtual desktop.
3- Windows Key + Ctrl + Left / Right – Switch to the virtual desktop on the left or right.
Unfortunately, there is no key combination(Yet) that will move the current window between virtual desktops.
Please let me know if this works for you.

Caesar B.

Thank you, Cesar.
sorry for the late reply.
Virtual desktop looks good, but we have to support win7&8, too.
And i don't know if we can take a screenshot from the inactive virtual desktop.
Best Regards,
BinBin
