Please help me with this issue, described in all length over there: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=133136 Debian User Forums • View topic - 4K resolution in Debian stretch (testing) on INTEL graphics?

In short:

Got a 4K screen working on Windows,

on a Dell 13-5378 (Inspiron 13 5000 i5).

So I can see 3840 pixels × 2160 (HDMI, 30Hz).

Now same hardware, with Debian stretch (testing)

... I only get a max resolution of 2048 x 1152

The experts in the Debian forum have already tried to help me, but so far, no success.

Any idea what to do?

Thanks!

akrueger: Thank you very much for joining the Intel® Graphics communities.

Just to let you know, Intel tested their products using Windows as an operating system, so there is no documentation regarding how Debian works, let me apologize for that. You mentioned that you already visit the Debian forums, not sure if this is the same site, but on the link below you will be able to get further peer's assistance on this matter:

http://www.debianuserforums.org/ http://www.debianuserforums.org/

Any further questions, please let me know.

Hello Alberto, thanks a lot for your answer.

> Intel tested their products using Windows as an operating system

yes, sure.

But I cannot believe that in the Intel mega-corporation that there is not a single Linux expert.

I think there is.

> there is no documentation regarding how Debian works, let me apologize for that.

No need to apologize.

Just spend 0.01% of your profits on a small dedicated Linux team - it can only do you good.

Thank you very much, good idea. I have now also crossposted into that forum.

However, at first sight, that looks about 40 times smaller than the forums.debian.net

Thanks anyways

akrueger: You are welcome. Just to let you know, basically what I did was to send your suggestion about having a Linux team to that department so they can be aware of your feedback. In that regard they are the ones that will consider that suggestion to implement it or not.

I was able to upgrade the kernel to 4.12

See:

But I still only see 2048 x 1152 pixels.

What to do?

What do your inhouse Linux experts say?

Thanks

akrueger: Perfect, it is great to hear that you were able to do the upgrade. In regard to your inquiry, in this case, the best thing to do will be to wait for the response from Debian forums, they should be able to provide further assistance on this subject.

Any questions, please let me know.
