Display doesn't go above 1366x768

I am having a tough time trying to update the display driver. I am trying to increase my screen resolution from 1366x768 to something higher.

Windows 11 update driver finds the latest driver and puts it as UHD 600, but the list mode doesn't allow me to go above resolution.

I ran the various driver upgrade tools and I just can't get it to replace that driver.

What can I do? Can anyone help. This monitor is just plain awful and horrible to look at.

@Jameswalter is right. This display did NOT support any higher resolution than 1366x768 which drove me nuts. The solution was to hook up an external display and was able to go higher resolution.

I am still not pleased that none of this was documented by HP, which is another issue.

In case anyone is wondering this, the resolution is not clearly marked for a display and a laptop, which can be frustrating.

PS UHD Graphics 600 at May-2022 is more advanced than UHD Graphics 620 at 2021

Hope all this info helps someone in the future, I will close this case.

If the display does not support more than 1366x768, no driver willl help you.   Look at the specs for your device.  You will likely see that 1366x768 is the max.

How can I look at what the underlying device does? I looked at what Windows offers in device manager, etc and it's all what the driver shows.

Go to the manufacturer's website for your device and look at the specifications.

None of what is written here has helped me, but has frustrated me more. I have ran Windows driver update numerous times and it still uses the UHD600 driver and does not allow me to go above 1366x768 resolution. Every windows program that I have run also doesn't give me details about the internal display capabilities, and the HP web site that I have used has been unhelpful. The chat agent is not only frustrating but also useless.

So safe to say I am back to where I started from with no resolution.

Your display is limited to 1366x768.  It is a physical limitation.  No driver or OS update will help you.  Provide the EXACT model number of your HP device and I may be able to help you with the PHYSICAL specifications.

Ok thanks.

This is what I get, there is no details on the resolution or the specifications beyond that.

If you can share where did you look up to get more information, that would be great.

OK, as both you and I have found, the HP website is useless.  It provides no information that I can find on your HP 15-dw1 (54P05AV).

Is your processor an Intel Celeron N4020?  If so, then we have some possible information.  Here is a link from Amazon and Walmart on a laptop that looks like it might be the same as yours:

https://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-15-dw-15-6-inch-HD-1366-x-768-WLED-Intel-Celeron-N4020-4GB-1TB-Hard-Drive-Win-10-Laptop/1457647673

https://www.amazon.com/HP-15-dw-15-6-inch-Celeron-Laptop/dp/B08S7M91MW

The both specifically say the resolution is 1366x768.  That HP cannot confirm this for you is shameful.

Now, back to the problem.  If this is your laptop, there is nothing that can be done driver-wise, or OS-wise to increase your resolutionn.   1366x768 is an absolutely horrible resolution, especially on a 2022 laptop.   That HP has avoided, or is hiding, the specifications on this particular model is equally horrible.

Ok thanks for confirming my frustration. The funny thing is that I got this laptop in August, and the HP website states that my warranty expired in August, because they started it in March, as it has a 6 month warranty.

So now I am torn, do I tear everything down that I built on it and send it back or continue slogging until next August, tax-free day and get a new laptop and use it for a Linux machine.

Thanks for checking though.

Just make sure you check the physical specs on the new laptop screen.   As for HP, well, I think you know my opinion.

@Jameswalter   You are incorrect.   If the display does not physically support that setting, it will not work.   Did you bother reading this thread?

Hi dear,

But the unfair thing is its showing UHD and diplay resolution is 1366*768 , im using Hp laptop having integrated graphics UHD and amd radeon dedicated graphics. i tried with several drivers to fix this to change to 1920*1080 . Note: UHD better than FHD as i understand still why this issue cannot be sorted out?//??

Your HP laptop screen very likely has a maximum resolution of 1366x768.   They sell these cheap laptops with these limited displays.  Check with HP first (ie lookup the ACTUAL model number if you are lucky enough to find it on the HP site).   Do not blame Intel for your laptop limitation.

Ask HP what the actual max resolution of their screen is.

Sorry, you need to be consulting with HP.  This is not an Intel problem.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.  But, many HP customers are fooled by HP's presentation of these laptops.
