Hi,

am writing from India,Mumbai. My first post. Hope it to be elaborate

my system configuration is as follows:

OS: windows 8.1

mobo: Asus H170 pro gaming with onboard DP 1.2

processor: i5-6600 skylake with stock cooler with intel HD530 graphics

ram: g skills 16gb 2133mhz ddr4

case: corsair 330R silent titanium edition with 2 cabinet cooling fans

monitor: LG 34UC87-B with 3440X1440 @60hz on Dp 1.2 enable mode ( for it has an option in the OSD to disable it).

This monitor is connected to onboard DP 1.2 ( no graphics card installed) also, a view sonic VG1921 1440X900@ 75 hz monitor attached to onboard D-sub port simultaneously

Problem:(here-on description of behaviour of LG 34UC87-B)

1.While booting: no flickering of screen always.

2.On full boot: sometimes no flickering till monitor switched off / monitor to sleep mode/ PC to sleep mode after which, when back to full function, starts flickering.

3. On full boot: sometimes flickering starts.

4. on restart: sometimes no flickering of screen till monitor switched off / monitor to sleep mode/ PC to sleep mode after which, when back to full function, starts flickering.

5. on restart: sometimes flickering starts.

type of distortion:

1. no colour shift

2. no fixed pattern distortion

3. image partial position shift, commonly in the lower right region of screen upto the middle and right edge.

4. horizontal lines throughout the screen appear followed by screen going blank and back on intermittently with no fixed duration, also erratically with or without any input from mouse/keyboard.

Note:

1.tried reset of OSD in monitor ie monitor setting

2. noted the OSD to be unresponsive during the blackouts of the screen & also during the image shifts.

3. Have updated the monitor drivers form lg website

4. have updated the bios form asus

5. have installed the lg proprietary screen split software and the lg dual mode software which only work in conjunction with these monitors.

Need help in figuring out what is happening. For as far as i know HD530 supports upto 4096X2160@60hz @24 bpp.

Hello Ninad,

Thank you for joining the Intel communities.

Do you have the latest driver from the Intel website; you can download it and install it here:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25484/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-1-10-15-40- Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 7/8.1/10* [15.40]

This processor supports the following resolutions depending on the cable you're using.

  • Max Resolution (DisplayPort) 4096x2304@60Hz straight connection (No adapters)
  • Max Resolution (HDMI 1.4) 4096x2304@24Hz

The resolution 440X1440 @60hz that you're using is perfectly fine.

Please let me know if the driver provided above work for you.

Regards,

Ivan

Did your system work fine before and then failed or you have this issue from the first integration?

Please try the following:

Disconnect and reconnect the video cables and test different ones if possible high quality cable.

Have you tried lowering the rate on your monitor from 75 to 60 or similar?

Please update your drivers from ASUS website and update your BIOS, you can download them at:

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H170-PRO-GAMING/HelpDesk/ https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H170-PRO-GAMING/HelpDesk/

Please reply with your graphics report.

Go to Intel® Graphics and Control Panel > Options > information Center > Save.

Also, I will appreciate if you can post the msinfo32.

  1. 1) Please press Windows Key + R to open the Run Menu
  2. 2) Type msinfo32 and click OK
  3. 3) While viewing the System Summary node go to File then Save (Please do not use Export)
  4. 4) Save your MSINFO32 report as msinfo32.nfo on your desktop for easy access and then you can post it here.

Regards!

i had this problem from the first integration.

Please try the following:

Disconnect and reconnect the video cables and test different ones if possible high quality cable.

i do not have any other cable. Problem arose with the recommended cable by LG which came boxed with Lg 34uc87-b monitor.

Note: have tested it with only display port and display port cable.

IN the OSD menu of the LG monitor an option to enable display port 1.2 appeared whcih i toggled to enabled.

Have you tried lowering the rate on your monitor from 75 to 60 or similar?

The secondary monitor has a 1440X900@75hz refresh rate which is working fine. The 3440X1440@60hz monitor had a flickering issue.

Note:1When both the primary {3440X1440@60hz}and the secondary (1440X900@75hz) are connected the flickering persists, only on the primary.

2. with the same case as 1] but when the secondary is at 60hz refresh rate=flickering persists.

3. with the primary stand alone at,native resolution and refresh rate, flickering persists.

Please update your drivers from ASUS website and update your BIOS, you can download them at:

Ans: Yes. This was the graphics driver which i had initially installed, on which i noticed this problem.

Since then have updated the driver to the latest (as mentioned in previous post), but to no avail.

attachment: screen shot of my previous driver.

New Doubt: i have smooth video project 4 installed (svp4 free). It increases the frame rate of videos by approximating the extra frames real time.

Could this be the cause of altering the display drivers and creating bugs?

Well, this processor has been used for different customers and we have not seen this behavior before, we recommend always using high quality cables and I would recommend test your system with another cable if it is possible to isolate the issue.

About the video project, could you please try removing it to see what will be the behavior?

The video project was uninstalled but the problem persists.

I will try getting a new dp cable and check the problem again.

i have decided to return the monitor.

Doubt: can HD530 run 2560X1440 @ 144hz?..If not, then to what refresh rate can the i-gpu display the same resolution?

The refresh rate depends on the monitor you have but the Intel® graphics will support up to 60Hz, maybe your monitor needs an INF driver, you can see it here:

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005952.html Monitor .INF FAQ for Graphics Drivers

You can see more information about refresh rate supported at the following link:

The link does not tell if HD 530 supports 2560X1440@ 144hz.

Also,

The option in the monitor OSD menu enabling displayport 1.2 when toggled to disabled the flickering problem goes away.

But this mode would not support 10 bit colour.

Also, When the monitor was connected to a 2gb nvidia gtx960 graphics card the flickering problem stopped, even when the option of dp1.2 is toggled enabled.

so am trying to make sense of all this?

The Intel® graphics 530 supports that resolution but not at 144Hz, you can see the resolution this processor support at the following link:
