Guys I want to dive into a purchase, Microsoft can't give me an answer but the website says my unit, surface pro 2 can produce 4k resolution at 60hz. Is this possible with the monitor mentioned above with dell? Using a display port 1.2 this should work with the Intel graphics card right? Will there be an update. Thanks for any help.

Hello LouieLou16,

Thank you for joining the Intel communities.

Is your computer the one on the following link?

https://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-us/devices/surface-pro-2 https://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-us/devices/surface-pro-2

If yes, that system has 4th generation processor and is capable to support these resolutions.

3280x2000@60Hz

3200x2000@60Hz

I'm not sure what processor comes with it because I was not able to find it in the website but if you can provide a link for the PC you want to buy it will be great.

Please be aware that the resolution that you see above is not 4k it is ultra high definition.

Regards,

Ivan

The processor is i5-4200 @1.6ghz. Graphics card is HD graphics 4400. Here is the thing, check this link https://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-us/support/music-photos-and-video/connect-surface-to-a-tv-display-or-projector?os=windows-10 https://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-us/support/music-photos-and-video/connect-surface-to-a-tv-display-or-projector?os=windows-10 clearly shows that my computer is strong enough to produce 4k resolution at 60hz!!! The machine is powerful enough, why cant INTEL make a driver for this!??

The resolution you can get with this processor is what I have mentioned above, you can also see it here:

http://ark.intel.com/products/75459/Intel-Core-i5-4200U-Processor-3M-Cache-up-to-2_60-GHz Intel® Core™ i5-4200U Processor (3M Cache, up to 2.60 GHz) Specifications

Resolution depends on which processor you have (i7, i5, or i3) as you can see on the link you kindly provided.

There is no way we can make a driver that support 4k for the Intel® HD graphics 4400, in order for you to get 4k you will need a computer with 6th generation processor or some 5th generation processor support it as well.

Please see the following links for processor that support 4k

http://ark.intel.com/products/family/84979/5th-Generation-Intel-Core-i7-Processors# @Mobile 5th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 Processors

http://ark.intel.com/products/family/88393/6th-Generation-Intel-Core-i5-Processors# @Mobile 6th Generation Intel® Core™ i5 Processors

At his point I recommend contacting the laptop or system manufacturer for them to give you more specifications about the system you would like to purchase.

Regards,

Ivan
