Hey all,
So I've got a Sparkle B580 and I installed it 6-7 months ago. I do gaming on my 4K TV and usually run at 60fps since my TVs tend to be only 60hz.
Initially I had no issues with it. I set my Windows display settings to output 4K resolution and 60Hz. I've been gaming like this ever since with no problems.
About two weeks ago, I booted up my game to play and instantly noticed something didn't look right. It was kinda laggy/jittery. I was playing Kena: Bridge of Spirits which I've played many times with this same setup. I play this game at 1440p at 60fps and it usually plays beautifully without issues. So this time I figured it was something in the settings, so I just kept playing and planned to address it later.
Later on that evening, I decided to check my Intel graphics settings to see if anything had gotten changed or reset, and they seemed to be fine. No changes. Then I checked my display settings in Windows and saw that it was outputting at 4K 30hz instead of 4K 60hz. I figured something had maybe reset during an update or something. So I changed it back to 60hz, but then my display immediately changed to 1080p. I switched it back to 4K, and it changed back to 30hz. It's like it refused to give me 4K 60hz which it had been doing without fail for the past 6-7 months.
I decided to reboot my PC to see if there was just some weird glitching happening, so when I did, I got nothing out of that DisplayPort. Just a black screen. I could get no picture out at all. I then switched to my other DisplayPort just to check, and boom, immediately a picture out. I went into my Windows display settings and set it to 4K 60hz, and it immediately set without any issues. I then booted up some games (Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart), and they all played smoothly at 60fps. No issues.
So my question is this, could one of my DisplayPorts have gone bad? Could one be bad while the other one still works? I mean, my card is barely 7 months old. I'd hate to think that I'd have to replace it so soon.
For the past 2 weeks, I've just kept it in my second DisplayPort and it seems to be working fine. I plan on switching it back to the port that was glitching to see if it's still having the some problems. I just wanted to throw this out there first and see if anyone else experienced anything like this.
Has anyone else had any similar issues? Were you eventually able to find a fix?
Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

I can't imagine the port is faulty. Video connection negotiation is based on the display sending information to the graphics card, which then transmits the appropriate format. However, this only applies when using a single protocol. If protocol conversion is used (DisplayPort > HDMI), the number of interfaces through which the video connection parameters are negotiated increases. This can sometimes lead to inconsistent behavior.
If the physical port were faulty, problems would also occur at 4K @ 30 Hz.
In my experience, most video problems are caused by the cable. I wouldn't worry.

There isn't a TV with a DisplayPort connection. I suspect you're using some kind of adapter. What TV model is it?
With the Arc B580, this isn't necessary. Please use the HDMI port with a certified Ultra High Speed HDMI cable, for example, this one:

True, and I would've considered this to be the problem if it hadn't worked perfectly in this setup for 6-7 months. And currently, one of the other DisplayPorts is working perfectly without issue. I'm only have problems with one of the DisplayPorts in the same configuration. And I don't really care what works, or even if it is a cable issue, my main concern was making sure I didn't have a bad port before my year warranty was over. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yep, you're right. This was something that I completely glossed over. I had also been recently experiencing occasional random black screens during gaming. The screen would turn black for a second then the picture would come back. I bet all of this is a cable issue. I'm going to go back and swap everything over to just HDMI and see how that works out. Thanks for the suggestions!
