I am using photoshop CC and MOST of the time when i start the program my computer flashes that the intel display driver was stopped and successfully recovered. I can use photoshop but when i check the performance settings it is listing my intel intergrated card as the graphic card. This laptop is a brand new asus with a nvidia geforce 745m running windows 8.1. Sometimes it will start and the nvidia will work fine. As always, every manufacturer blames everyone else. Nvidia says its ASUS. ASUS says its not them blah blah. I have downloaded the latest drivers for nvidia. Downloaded intel drivers. There is no rhyme or reason as to when it will work. Asus computers arent able to turn off the intergrated card according to them. I have used the nvidia control center to tell photoshop to use the nvidia card but it doesnt help.

Perhaps it is a good idea to check how long the issue started to happen, what has changed since then, and if it happens across different driver versions.

Does the issue happen when any other graphics intensive application is running?

Hi nesc39,

Please let me know if you get any solution to your issue by now.

What I fund from my end - restart can fix this temporarily and clearly it's an issue with Intel HD Graphics 4400.

The best suggestion for a system with hybrid graphics is to use the drivers provided by the system manufacturer since they are most likely customized for your system and designed them both to work together.

Please download the latest drivers from the http://www.intel.com/support/oems.htm system manufacturer's website, uninstall both graphics drivers, install Intel drivers first, restart your system, and install Nvidia* drivers last. If this does not work, you can try with the latest generic drivers available from Intel and Nvidia* and installed them in the same order indicated before.

Kindly share the DxDiag report in case more assistance is needed. (Press Windows* key + R key, type "dxdiag", press OK and then click "Save All Information").

http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/detect.htm Intel's generic graphics drivers from the Intel Web site do not work on some computers that support Switchable Graphics. It depends on your computer's hardware configuration.

If you encounter problems using the generic driver, Intel recommends reinstalling the latest validated driver from your computer manufacturer for your system

Hello All, Im facing same issue described above. This age old driver crash issue for Intel HD Graphics 4400 in my new Dell Inspiron 5537 laptop.

When I open Photoshop CC 2014 (latest build) - GPUSniffer try to calculate the CLBandwidth of Intel HD 4400 graphics card and the program hangs. Intel HD driver crashes and system message pops up with "Display driver stopped responding and recovered" (disabling Open GL and Graphics Processor in Photoshop). Interesting point is, if I restart my laptop - it all runs well; but after a shut down same situation reappears.

Most Importantly I'm using latest driver from Intel (Version 10.18.14.4080 aka 15.36.14.4080 - dated 05-01-2015).

Is there anyway to get rid of this??

Please check this thread too:

Thanks in advance,

Arnab Chandra
