I have a Lenovo Thinkpad x1 Carbon gen 7. It has an Intel graphics card 620. The resolution of the built-in screen is 1920x1080. I want to get an external monitor with a higher resolution - 2560 x 1440 - and I am trying to determine if my Lenovo will display at the 2560x1440 level on the external monitor even though the built-in screen display is only 1920x1080. I have seen conflicting information about this on the internet which is why I am asking for help.
You are not locked to the resolution of the built-in display. My laptop (not a Lenovo) has a 1920x1080 display, like yours, but my externally-connected monitor is 3840x2160.
