Far Cry 6

I bought Far Cry 6 yesterday hoping it would run on Intel Iris Xe Graphics with updated drivers(30.0.100.9955). But it didn't work as expected, the game is running until the intro, when I click on "New Game" it crashes to desktop.

Kindly take a look at this issue, Thanks.

In order for us to provide the most accurate assistance on this matter, we just wanted to confirm a few details about your system:

What is the model of the motherboard?

If this is a laptop, what is the model of it?

Is this a new computer?

Even though you purchased the game yesterday, did Far Cry 6 ever work fine on this machine?

When did the issue start?

Did you make any recent hardware/software changes that might cause this issue?

Which Windows* version are you using?

Does the problem happen at home or in the work environment?

Please attach the SSU report so we can verify further details about the components in your platform, check all the options in the report including the one that says "3rd party software logs":

Thank you for your reply @Alberto_R_Intel I'm not sure, whether this issue is from Intel Graphic Drivers or from the Ubisoft Far Cry 6 Patch Update, which seems to be having issues after 26/10/2021 update. Will let you know once Ubisoft support team responses to the issue.

Ya I've given my specification to them and they replied saying "We do not support Integrated Graphics". Quite a disappointment. I felt confident on Intel Iris Graphics, at least in low setting I may able to play. I'm sure it is still Ubisoft's fault because other players reporting issues even now that they can't play the game.

" I'm sure it is still Ubisoft's fault because other players reporting issues even now that they can't play the game.", in that case, from our side, what we recommend will be to do as you did, to get in contact directly with them to report this scenario, to verify if they can replicate the issue and if they will have a possible fix or solution in the future in order for you to be able to properly play the game.

far cry 6 does run on intel iris graphics but you need to use the 2022 driver 30.0.101.3111 and the fps is great, I have a 90 hrz screen and 16gb of ram, if anything it runs smoother than days gone. Updating your intel drivers will only make performance worse for some unknown to intel reason.

 

However and RTX users and myself also suffer artifcats near the ocean and in the sky by the ocean, nvidia users have reported in reddit they can solve the problem, but I have been unable to fix it currently however if you can put up with that its smooth, performance  however apparently the game is not as good as the others so be prepared.

 

Some modern games these days wont even run unless you update your driver but that would just make it worse anyway so i dont play those games

It works great on the latest 2025 drivers version 32.0.101.7028, and the previous WHQL version 32.0.101.7026 works great too with slightly higher fps but sadly freezing issues on launch (the freezing is random, sometimes it launches fine, sometimes not).. I'm still diagnosing it anyway, maybe I'm wrong.

 Yeah i dont update my drivers since they messed up days gone, artifacts and all sorts of crap I was of the opinion that intel wanted to break intel iris xe after the arc drivers came out .. combining these drivers wrecked the performance of my intel iris

I now use the original 2022 driver from my laptops website it works fine except for games that give you warnings about the drivers being wrong and then ask you to go to an intel page

Then the windows update wrecked the pc for gaming so I put it back to 23h2 and after some research stopped all windows updates permanently.

 

I dont let providers of drivers etc dictate my life to me, there is always a workaround for these pesky companies trying to break your experience

I agree with you that the newer versions sometimes introduce issues. I tried the latest one and it had a terrible bug in which you couldn't access Display settings in the Intel Graphics Software.

 

But I found out that 32.0.101.6881 WHQL is pure perfection, that's the one that I will use from now on.

I'm writing this new reply to say that Intel Iris Xe Drivers 32.0.101.6881 is the BEST!

Don't use anything after 6881 since it has a bug in the Intel Graphics Software where it doesn't allow you to access the Display options.

6881 is the last good WHQL release, it was released in 9th of June 2025.
