I'm playing FF16 on Windows 11, Steam with my Asrock Intel Arc B570 GPU and AMD 5600x CPU. I have 32GB RAM running at 3333MHz. Unfortunately, the game crashes occasionally with a message about a command being sent to the GPU that it couldn't execute.
I've seen users with other video cards experiencing similar issues. They mention that Square Enix recommends ensuring your drivers are up to date to prevent crashes like these. Naturally, my drivers are up to date (32.0.101.6559).
Currently, I cannot progress in the story because the game crashes at a specific moment during a story segment. It primarily crashes when the boss reaches a certain life total, right when a new event happens in the game. Other users have reported this issue happening slightly later on their systems.
To be more accurate about the crashing, the game audio continues to play normally, but the game state/picture freezes, and I can only hear the music. Additionally, during this specific crash, the error message doesn't appear, but during other more random crashes, the message does appear.
I'm not sure if there is anything that can be done but thanks for any help in advance.

Hi RandyT,
Thank you for your message. I have to admit a mistake, I seem to have had an overclock applied when my game was crashing during my gameplay when I made my inquiry. I was sure that I did turn off any overclock settings I had made to try to get smoother framerate in the game. I turned the OC off after I managed to get through the part that had been crashing. I can't remember if I had overclocked when I first got the b570, which was when I was at an earlier part of the game (where the game continues from the demo to the full game). which caused crashing in The Hideaway area for example and the battle against Jill. I did try to see if the Typhon which was the most recent part my game would crash at would reproduced a crash with overclocking settings turned off. There was no crash but oddly there was artifacts in the rendering. I attached images of my settings, and the described scene rendered properly and with the artifacting.

Hi RandyT,
here are the files you asked for. I also included a CapFrameX capture of a scene that had a particularly poor framerate. It would be my Player Save 10 "The Gathering Storm" both in the tavern and in the village outside. (GPU was at default settings from Asrock)

Hi Umbasa,
I wanted to update you on the results of a simulation we conducted regarding the performance issues you reported. Our specialist was able to replicate the issue and found that it appears to be related to the game itself. After testing with an RTX 4060, we observed the same FPS drops, suggesting that the problem might be due to code optimization within the game.
You can view a comparison video of the tests here: Final Fantasy 16 - test
Additionally, I've attached the raw CapframeX data from our tests for your reference.
I understand that you've already resolved the crashing issue by undoing the overclocking. To address the remaining graphics corruption issue, could you please provide the steps to reproduce it? Specifically, which saved file should we use, and where in the game should we go to observe the corruption?
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
Regards,
Randy T.

Hi RandyT,
Thank you for your response. I figured it was simply the case that the game isn't optimized, and that a driver update can't just make it smoother 😓. As for the graphics corruption, it doesn't happen very often at all, only once when the B570 was stable. As for locations where it can be observed. The very same tavern scene I mentioned, I saw in the village the corruption happen, and in the area in the quick-save. I would like to clarify that the screenshot of the corruption was at stock clocks. I have screenshots of the same corrupted visual when testing an overclock. Additionally I have an older screenshot from the start of the game "Hideaway" hub area where the corruption took on a different appearance (green flares, purple shading). Overall, I don't suspect that the corruptions are a real concern if they really only happen with overclocked settings.
