GMA 3100 and extended desktop

Hello all,

I would like to have confirmation about a feature of the GMA 3100 graphical chipset.

The GMA3100 is, in my case, integrated to the G31 intel chipset on a embedded motherboard.

This motherboard has two VGA connectors.

According to white papers and product brief concerning G31/GMA3100 chipsets, dual-head is available.

But in what mode ?

I mean, is it possible under windows, XP/vista or seven, to extend windows desktop on two monitors (with or without same resolution on both screen connected to each VGA port of the motherboard) ?

Thank you in advance

Kind Regards

Sebastien.

Yes it is possible as the chipset supports it. Now your motherboard manufacturer or system builder may have limited this feature.

You can find the supported features here page 283:

Thanks BigThor for the link.

i understood that dual-head is available, but an electrical adaptater/converter have to be used to convert sDVO signal in signal that CRT or Flat panel can manage.

I hope the provider of the embedded motherboard put the correct component which avoid to use ADD2 or MEC extension card...

That is usually when you have only one video port. In your case as you have to VGA ports you should be able to get dual display with them.
