Gaming bugs and glitches with Intel HD graphics anyone?

Anyone suffered graphic bugs/glitches when gaming with Intels integrated HD graphics GPU? I'm sure it's not only me. Will start with the first few games regarding HD3000 on i5-2500k with newest drivers,

- Tropico 3: the water is messed up, screens below /Update: fixed with 8.15.10.2401

- Trackmania United/Forever: graphic glitches with motion blur enabled (first two screens below with motion blur, last two without)

http://www.abload.de/img/3lguv.jpg http://www.abload.de/img/3lguv.jpg

http://www.abload.de/img/41gwz.jpg http://www.abload.de/img/41gwz.jpg

- Oblivion: when playing with HDR enabled only a bluish picture over the entire screen

http://www.abload.de/img/787i6.jpg http://www.abload.de/img/787i6.jpg

- Final Fantasy XIV Benchmark: it lags like hell for some reason (if asked for I capture a video, but you can search for AMDs LLano video, they used this glitch to promote Llanos multithreading performance, it's exactly the same) /Update: almost no lags with 8.15.10.2401

- Farming Simulator 2011: crashing or not loading with graphic setting medium and high, only workable with lowest graphic setting

- Fear, Arcania, Oblivion, GTR 2, Dragon Age: anisotropic filtering not applied when enabled in control center (this bug is endless, looks like AF in control center is more a placebo option actually)

That's my first reporting. Feel free to post more bugs here.

How did you mod your Intel HD Graphics???

Can you have OpenGL 2.1 with 3D acceleration to have better graphic and support 3D textures (not 3D like 3D movies or 3D games).

What you change?

-------------------------------------

Intel HD Graphic really have to have a MEGA upgrade.

A guy on antoher forum said something about OpenGL that Intel HD Graphic support OpenGl 2.1, but it's doesn't work coorectly :

"The bigger issue is that your graphics system is designed mostly for low powered performance. 3D acceleration on the Intel GMA cards (including the "HD" versions) is oriented around acceptable throughput for running HD video streams and having a smooth experience in Windows Vista/7.

Even bigger an issue is that Intel may say that they support OpenGL 2.1 but it's not likely to be an optimized implementation. They did it to check off the boxes for simple OpenGL applications but flight simulators may be right off their charts. If you can get it running in Excellent mode I'd say you're doing very well. If it works at all in Perfect I'd be surprised"

Moderator, can you increase the performance of 3D for OpenGL 2.1 for Intel HD Graphic.

The Intel HD graphics is just annoying. We can't do what we want and nobody want to buy another laptop just to have more detail. I'm sure they can improve 3D and performance for this graphic card.

hello.

say problem with my system.

intel 2500k

mb: z68xp-ud3p

monitor acer b243h

problem with the games that i discovered.

Portal 2 when enable triple vertical sync with 1920x1080res, black screan when switching to desktop and back it's all mest up, it's like the pc dousen't understand the resolution anymore... and i can't switch back only if i change the resolution to 1600x900 than i can play with high settings.

Sounter-Strike: Source - trouble with letter's

Tomb Raider Underworld the same problem with vsync like portal2...

Vsync On/Off doesn't work at all, tested this some time ago. Not to mention there is no Off Button in control panel, but even the Vsync On button did not work at all in HL2 and Quake 4. It's not a game glitch for me, it's a fundamental error in the driver.

Quake 3 is even darker with driver 8.15.10.2509. What a mess.

That's strange. You guys said the bright-then-dimming problem exists in Starcraft 2? Because it exists in Diablo 2 for me. I believe it may have to do with the automatic contrast adjustment the driver has to save display power, and there's a bug somewhere.

Have you tried using the in-game options to compensate for the darkness?

It's very easy to fix for Diablo 2. You just move the contrast-related bar anywhere and put it back to where you want it, to reset the thing. It happens every time the game is minimized or restarted though.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory - graphic glitches with Shader Model 3.0 enabled. Shader Model 1.1 and 2.0 are fine.

* Night vision doesn't work (all the other vision modes work). It's completely black or white, depends what way you're facing. UI elements are shown though.

* With Specular Lighting enabled some textures turn to blue/purple.

* HDR with tone mapping enabled makes screen go white, without it odd black.

Regarding Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, the problems still remain with the latest drivers (8.15.10.2622, 8.15.10.2656)

I had a similar issue in Oblivion with HDR enabled. HD Intel graphics doesn't like HDR it seems.

Blimey....... these drivers just seem to be getting worse. I think intel is failing to realise you need at least a medium sized very talented team of driver writers as opposed to what? Perhaps 2-3 interns at intel writing the drivers?

When I started with SB graphics and early drivers it was even worse. There is some slow progress. I think the biggest issue at the moment is the gamma and 24p video Bug. (24p Bug could be a hardware issue though)

If anyone is interested in trying it out I have a modified INF file for the 25xx driver. The modified INF should improve gaming performance, and hopefully iron out a few issues. Don't expect miracles it is only a INF mod, but it should help.

Is this a modification? You may open a new thread if you think this is something interesting. I could try it out of course.

I wouldn't really call it a mod, its just a INF file with refined settings and a few changes.

Here is the INF file for the 2509 driver. It is for the 64bit driver, I have no idea if itll work on 32bit systems. To take advantage of the changes in this INF here is the most thorough way to do it (just to try and avoid any issues)

Download the Zip package version of the 2509 driver

Uninstall the intel drivers

Extract the Zip package

Now, once the Zip package is extracted, lets say for example to the desktop, open the "Graphics" folder and extract the igdlh64.inf file to this folder, overwriting when prompted. Now just install the driver as normal.

Link for download of INF; http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WENFNXHO http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WENFNXHO

The main purpose in this file is for a better gaming experience (FPS) but there are a few other changes too.

No difference measured on my testbed with Crysis, Battleforge, Prey and Doom 3. What games did you try?

Older games mostly. The changes in the INF are what I made for my 4500M IGPU (score went from 800pts-ish to 920pts in 3DM06), I just ported compatible changes into the INF for the HD2000/3000. The best way to see any performance changes are to try games that rely on the entire system and not just the GPU as the HD2000/3000 "borrows" system resources such as memory for itself. The best chance at seeing performance gains are with games like STALKER SoC as thats a game that requires a system and not just a GPU. Alternatively you could just run the Windows Experience Index test and you will notice both the graphics scores will go up. For me with my 4500M and Win7 SP1 x64 my graphics score went from 3.4 > 3.6 and gaming graphics score went from 3.4 (thats not a typo) > 4.1. I didn't measure changes for the INF for the HD2000/3000 IGPUs as my PC has a GTX460 1GB @ 900MHz / 4.3GHz that simply stomps all over the HD2000 integrated into my 2500k
