Gaming bugs and glitches with Intel HD graphics anyone?

Anyone suffered graphic bugs/glitches when gaming with Intels integrated HD graphics GPU? I'm sure it's not only me. Will start with the first few games regarding HD3000 on i5-2500k with newest drivers,

- Tropico 3: the water is messed up, screens below /Update: fixed with 8.15.10.2401

- Trackmania United/Forever: graphic glitches with motion blur enabled (first two screens below with motion blur, last two without)

http://www.abload.de/img/41gwz.jpg http://www.abload.de/img/41gwz.jpg

- Oblivion: when playing with HDR enabled only a bluish picture over the entire screen

http://www.abload.de/img/787i6.jpg http://www.abload.de/img/787i6.jpg

- Final Fantasy XIV Benchmark: it lags like hell for some reason (if asked for I capture a video, but you can search for AMDs LLano video, they used this glitch to promote Llanos multithreading performance, it's exactly the same) /Update: almost no lags with 8.15.10.2401

- Farming Simulator 2011: crashing or not loading with graphic setting medium and high, only workable with lowest graphic setting

- Fear, Arcania, Oblivion, GTR 2, Dragon Age: anisotropic filtering not applied when enabled in control center (this bug is endless, looks like AF in control center is more a placebo option actually)

That's my first reporting. Feel free to post more bugs here.

Graphics glitches in Battlefield 2 (v 1.5) with Intel HD Graphics 3000, driver version 8.15.10.2656.

Ok with previous drivers. (8.15.10.2509, 8.15.10.2622)

This issue seems to be more a "peculiarity" of the bf2 - engine than a driver bug.

I had a similar issue with a GeForce 8600 GTS and later with an GT 240 under

Windows XP some time ago, and I am having this issue currently with a Radeon

HD 4670 using Catalyst 12.2 under Windows Vista SP2.

It first showed up on the Intel side with driver 8.15.10.2361, but they were able to

fix it somehow with 2509 and 2559 (under Windows 7 64). 2559 is the best driver

for bf2 from what I can tell, but I have not tried 2622.

What bugs me more with 8.15.10.2653 and 8.15.10.2656 is that both are unable

to finish 3DMark03 with an error message "DrawIndexedPrimitive failure", sometimes

with CPU test 1, sometimes with CPU test 2. Even some basic QA testing should

have caught this bug long before the drivers went public.

Even more troubling is that the driver keeps crahing the so called "COM Surrogate"

every now and then when using Windows Photo Viewer under Windows 7 64.

Thanks for the info messerli_mike.

Before upgrading my PC, I had a GeForce 8600 GT Under Windows 7 SP1. Can't remember having any problems in BF2, maybe I got lucky

BTW, could anybody check if they're having the same kind of graphic glitches in Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory like I am?

I can confirm this texture glitch in Battlefield 2 (1.50) with last 2 drivers

2509 driver does not have this problem.

People, this is why you don't jump without looking. I don't use the built-in GPU on my i5 2500k because its crap, however I'm running a self modded 2509 driver with seemingly no issues. At least, I haven't had any obvious problems because of the driver. Using the HD GPUs for gaming is a fruitless endevour and instead you should be focusing on a driver that is 100% stable under any usage condition. Intel GPUs will never be good for gaming, period. These HD GPUs can't even handle Stalker SoC @ 1680*1050 - and thats almost a 5 year old game engine. Oh and before anyone possibly chirps up "oh you mustn't be doing this or that right", I am. I'm a 17 year IT veteran with more qualifications in the field than you can count as well as being a aavid PC enthusiast.

So, long post short - Intel HD GPUs suck, focus on a 100% stable driver rather than a gaming driver because the GPU is never going to be able to run any game smoothly, unless you like playing minesweeper, solitaire or worms 2.

Stay away from my thread if you are unable to report bugs in a constructive way. Open a separate bash thread or whatever, this is the wrong place here.

I'm pointing out simple facts, nothing more. Look back at the entire history of Intel GPUs - they have always been crap. Expecting a Intel GPU driver to come along that magically makes a majority of games even relatively playable is just not realistic with the current hardware Intel are using. Larrabee seemed promising, then they scrapped that or at least most of it. As I said, focusing on a driver that is 100% stable under any conditions is something you can focus on and is achievable, or is a 100% stable driver not important to you? I have a 4500M GPU in my laptop which is why I made some modded drivers to get more performance out of the chip. A driver can only do so much to remedy problems, not everything can be "fixed" in a driver. Once a poor performer in games, always a poor performer. Intel HD chips are meant to provide smooth playback for Bluray and good 2D image quality, thats it. Everything else the Intel GPU does is simply there to "tick the boxes", it doesn't mean the chip is actually any good at them.

It doesn't matter if you are pointing out your crap if it isn't an appropriate thread here to bash. This thread is to be supposed for reporting bugs in a constructive manner. Furthermore your so called facts are completely idiotic, ignorant and biased based on your subjective view that this is just laughable. It seems you even don't have a Sandy Bridge CPU nor other older HD graphics in use. Your 4500M GMA is some years old, obviously you did not realize that. There is no 100% stable graphics driver, not for AMD, not for Nvidia and not for Intel. It won't happen. I have seen bugs with every graphics manufacturer. To generalize Intel HD graphics is another idiotic "fact", there are plenty of different versions available and in a month two more versions with the upper part HD4000 about as fast as a mobile Llano GPU - and in a year Haswell with rumoured 40 EUs and stacked DRAM do it even better. Most games I reported in this thread are perfectly playable on my HD3000 as long as I don't use max details, so it is of course important to fix the reported bugs in this games. There are dozens of games playable on a HD3000. You are plain wrong in almost everything you said. Troll somewhere else.

Medal Of Honor Allied Assault doesn't seem to work at all. Judging from this video, i'm not the only who's having that problem.

Just tested this and Allied Assault is definitely not a problem on HD4000. Just the main menu is warped but workable and in-game some minor textures issues. All in all very playable! I could not get it to run immediately though:

-had to upgrade to latest drivers (15.28.12.64.2932)

-place a opengl32.dll in main (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipkf5sUy8Hs How to fix mohaa windows 7 crash on startup - YouTube).

-run mohaa.exe as admin with xp-sp3 compatibility (not sure if this step is needed)

Also installed DX9 but really don't know if that one was neccessary.

Works also on HD 3000 (Driver version 15.28.12.64.2932). As purep said, something funny going around in main menu. I only started the first level to see if it would run so I cant really comment on texture issues.

All I had to do was to download opengl32.dll from that link that was posted on youtube and place it in my MOHAA folder.

This is so sad. I play aliens vs predator 2, a game which is over a DECADE old, and I have played it on very , VERY old hardware, even on integrated intel GPUS, and NEVER had a problem over a decade.

my hp probook 4530s cant play this game without these issues.

is there any drivers which solves some issues? Im just trying to run this game.... thats all
