Hello,

I have the Intel i7-8550 CPU with integrated graphics. I wanted to change my resolution on a second display from 1440x1080 to 1080x1080 to try a stretched resolution. After doing so in the graphic controls my secondary display just went dark and I can’t connect to it anymore neither can I change anything about the settings for the monitor in the graphic controls. Please help I’m really lost.

Hello @Linus1

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

In order to review this further, could you please provide the following information?

1- Is this a new system? Did the computer work fine before with the external monitor and the desired resolution? Or are you experiencing this behavior since the first day that you have the devices?

2- If this worked fine before at any moment, were there any other recent hardware or software changes that might relate to the point when the issue started? (For instance, Windows*, driver, BIOS, or software updates?)

3- Secondary display maker and model:

4-Report for Intel® Graphics Drivers following the steps on the link. Make sure the monitors in question are connected to the computer when generating the report.

5- How did you set the resolution of 1080x1080? Was it through the regular "Resolution drop-down menu" on the Intel® Graphics Command Center? Or was it through the "Custom Resolution" option? Please provide details. You may also include pictures or a short video showing the steps and behavior.

6- Run the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) to gather more details about the system:

  • Download the Intel® SSU and save the application on your computer
  • Open the application, check the "Everything" checkbox, and click "Scan" to see the system and device information. The Intel® SSU defaults to the "Summary View" on the output screen following the scan. Click the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".
  • To save your scan, click Next and click Save.
  • Once you have saved the file (.txt file), please attach it to your reply.

To upload and attach a file, use the "Drag and drop here or browse files to attach" option below the response textbox.
