What is the resolution of the monitor you plan to use?
Typically, provided you are using premium quality HDMI 2.0 cables, you can achieve 120Hz for 1440p and lesser resolutions. For 2160p (4K), however, stability issues can start to occur at 75Hz and higher (go for super premium quality cables for best results).

P.S. My rule is to throw away any cables that come with a monitor (or only use them for 1080p). The vendors will scrimp here to save money. Thus, by definition, they are junk.
