HDMI not working

When I try to project my screen to my TV, I get an error saying "You can't project to another screen. Please try reinstalling the driver or using a different video card."

I did a fresh install of the Nvidia drivers, and my laptop says the Microsoft Basic Display adapter is up to date. My device manager also shows a bunch of PCI and SM Bus Controller drivers as missing, but am unable to find the drivers online. My laptop is an Acer and motherboard manufacturer is KBL.

FWIF, my laptop is also unable to recognize USB devices...

Fixed it! I went to this website

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/intel-driver-support-assistant.html

and it scanned my computer and told me i had a graphics driver update available. I installed it, restarted my computer, and im no longer getting the error message!

Probably you didn't installed the Intel Chipset Device Software.

In order to get better information about your system, please download the Intel System Support Utility (SSU). Run the SSU scan (check "Everything") and save the results. The .txt file with the results please attach to your post.

SSU results attached. I just installed the intel chipset device software, and that seems to have fixed the USB issue. No luck on the projection issue though.

1. You should download the drivers (including the Chipset Driver) from the OEM Download Page.

2. Download the Chipset Driver and unzip it on your drive.

3. Open the Administrative Command Prompt and browse to the unzipped directory "Chipset_Intel_10.1.1.44_W10x64" were the  setup.exe is located.

4. Execute the following command: Setup.exe -overall

5. Reboot your computer.

6. Now download and install the VGA Driver.

Edit:

I read last post describing the solution. I'm glad that the problem was solved.  In some cases it is advised to use OEM drivers as there may be optimized for the laptop.  But if laptop works according to your expectation, you are set.

Since this laptop model is older, it makes sense to update all software components to the latest version. Please use the drivers that the manufacturer offers on its website. This is the only way to ensure that the product works as the manufacturer intended.
