Hi,
I have a HP Pavilion Laptop.
The Graphics card is Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620.
I have a Monitor attached. The Monitor is HP EliteDisplay E243.
I am running the latest version of Windows 11. (Updated on 03.11.2025)
The monitor is connected to the laptop via HDMI cable.
My problem is that the monitor is continually going black so that I have to use the laptop screen most of the time.
I have updated the graphics card driver from the Intel website.
I have tried to update the Monitor driver but the HP website does not allow me to select Windows 11 as the Operating System. Device Manager says that the best drivers are already installed for the monitor.
I have changed the HDMI cable a few times and the problem persists.
Is there any solution to this?
Thanks.
Anthony.

Please provide the exact model number of your laptop. OEMs like HP use customized motherboards and ports, so specifying "UHD 620" is unfortunately not sufficient.

The HP EliteDisplay E243p is a Full HD monitor.
1920 × 1080 @ 60 Hz
The HDMI output of the HP Pavilion Laptop 14-ce1507sa (Coffee Lake from 2019) is version 1.4.
Regarding the video signal and operating mode, I don't see any incompatibilities due to bandwidth issues or similar problems.
Since both devices are HP products, and as mentioned, the motherboard design, including the ports, is the OEM's responsibility, I recommend contacting HP directly and specifically inquiring about this laptop's compatibility with Windows 11. HP may be able to assist you. The less desirable possibility is that the HDMI port on either the laptop or the monitor is faulty.
