Hi. I have an old Dell Inspiron laptop running Windows Vista. I have had an HDMI cable connecting my laptop to my TV which worked just fine until I broke it. I bought a new cable but now I cant get the laptop to see it. It has worked briefly, but when I clicked onto 'adjust screen resolution' it disappeared again. I clicked onto the advanced settings and graphics properties but it is not showing up as an additional monitor. I have tried many times to get it to work with no luck. Please does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do?

Try determining the failed component with these questions:
- Is that a high quality HDMI to HDMI cable? If not, use one that is.
- Do you have another HDMI monitor or TV to test the laptop with?
- Can you test the TV with another computer or HDMI capable device?
