How to know whether the ewa_lanczossharp rendering filter is working on mpv?

For rendering video with a GPU, the mpv documentation states,

wa_lanczossharp

A slightly sharpened version of ewa_lanczos, preconfigured to use an ideal radius and parameter. If your hardware can run it, this is probably what you should use by default.

I've tried this option and the video plays. But when I check the usage of my Intel GPU via intel_gpu_top, I notice that the usage actually drops from around 6% (when using the default spline36 filter on gpu-hq) to around 2%.

My intuition tells me if a filter produces better quality, then it should make more use of the GPU. But the opposite seems to be happening.

So, if the video plays and my system reports some GPU usage while rendering, is my system actually using the ewa_lanczossharp filter correctly?

Hello williamrichard11,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

In order to better assist you, please provide the following:

1. Run the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) to gather more details about the system.

· Download the Intel® SSU and save the application on your computer: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/18377/intel-system-support-utility-for-windows.html

· Open the application, check the "Everything" checkbox, and click "Scan" to see the system and device information. The Intel® SSU defaults to the "Summary View" on the output screen following the scan. Click the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".

· To save your scan, click Next and click Save.

2. Did this filter work with a different unit? If so, what was the brand and model name of the unit?

3. Are you using a laptop or desktop computer?

4. Can you share pictures of the usage of the Intel GPU via intel_gpu_top and task manager?

Best regards,
