Hi,
Getting frustrated - help please. Every time I try to use an LCD TV (using mobo HDMI-out to TV HDMI-in) it results in a BSOD with STOP 0x16—telling me that the igdkmd64 did not recover. Usually before the BSOD I get something like "Display driver igdkmd64.sys stopped responding and has recovered" several times, and them–KABOOM.
The system works fine with a VGA monitor without the HDMI attached.
This is a clean Win 7x64 (Home Premium) install on a minimal system:
ASUS P8H67 B3 (Realtec HD Audio, and Realtec Gbit Network);
i7 2600K with Intel HD3000 on processor graphics
4 Gb RAM (2x 2Gb) DDR3 1333
HD - Crucial C300 128Gb SSD AHCPI.
Supposedly (?) I have the newest HW drivers
The culprit TV's are an older Olevia 42"-1080i, and a newer 26" VIZIO 1080p. Both are HDCP compliant, and both work fine with HDMI from a DVD, A/V Receiver or cable box.
So far I have tried swapping HDMI cables, tried using a DVI-out to HDMI adapter (TVs don't have DVI ports) – same result. Tried removing one memory stick (leaving only 2Gb on a single slot) same problem. Also tried with various BIOS settings -- no help. The same things happens if I booth in Safe Mode with networking, but not in Safe Mode. So, I disabled the network drivers and devices, and rebooted normally --but didn't help, same BSOD.
Have been searching the web and forums, but nothing seems to be helping.
Any suggestions are much appreciated!

hi everyone, similar situation where i have Win7 x64 and everytime i plug in the hdmi cable i get a BSOD that references igdkmd64. my problem is that this is a laptop, so getting a discrete graphics card is out and i'm resorting to using VGA/stereo cable. i'm contributing to the thread and hoping that when the reply count is high enough, someone at Intel would take this issue off the back-burner.
thanks.

I can use the Standarddriver when i deinstall the MEI and Graphic Driver. Reinstall the new Chipset Driver then Restart and then Install the new Mei first and then the Graphic driver.
Hope this helps!

Exact same problem with i5-2500k. EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM. Using ASROCK z68 Extreme 4 mobo running Win7x64. Switched to VGA cable instead of HDMI. Machine stayed running for a whopping 28 hours before BSOD indicating igdkmd64.
I am forced to buy a video card to overcome this situation. I have never felt cheated by an intel product until now. What good is integrated graphics if the driver is unstable and the machine crashes.
Very disappointed.

I've been reading this thread since I built my new HTPC last week. I set it up using a VGA monitor, then when I moved it to my HTPC area and hooked it up to my Sony KDL52XBR9 via HDMI and got the blue screen.
I reverted back to the old drivers that came with the Asus EVO board and it works, but I can't get BOXEE to play videos. XBMC works though. I have a HDHomerun Triple coming in Late July so I hope they either fix it by then (If they ever do) or the MCE DVR just works with the old drivers.
If I do decide to get a Video card, it would have to be a low profile one and I would defintely want one that supports HDMI audio with this board.

LESLIEx317537,
I was in the same boat as you and I don't see Intel fixing the plethora of issues with the graphics driver/adaptor anytime soon. Hopefully you saw my earlier comments on a proposed graphics card. I personally switched to a GT430 (supports the full range of audio over HDMI) and got a smoken deal at $40 a pop on three of em... they are closer to $80 now but some still have a mail in rebate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130580 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130580. They do add an additional 25-50W to your power drain so make sure you have the PSU to handle it. These two articles may also help you: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4380/discrete-htpc-gpus-shootout http://www.anandtech.com/show/4380/discrete-htpc-gpus-shootout and http://www.anandtech.com/show/3973/nvidias-geforce-gt-430 http://www.anandtech.com/show/3973/nvidias-geforce-gt-430
As for the low profile... not sure if all/any of the GT430 brands include a low profile bracket but the low profile HDMI/DVI is a pretty standard configuration and you should be able to remove the third graphics port on most GT430 cards and put in a low profile bracket if you have to order one online. Microcenter may carry a converter or you could email the manfacturer to see if they will send you one.
Hope this helps.

Huh? These aren't gaming PC's: we are talking about media center PCs. Susposedly the HD2000/3000 graphics was going to be great for video transcoding and more then enough to handle HD content like Blu Ray 1080p, 3D Blu Ray, etc. We're in this forum because the Intel graphics driver isn't cutting it. Obvisously you'd want a beefier GPU for gaming.

Yes I found a Asus 430 that comes with a low profile bracket on newegg.com I'm using the Antec Green 380 watt PS. I do have a 64GB SSD and a 500GB 7200rpm drive, but not overclocking and when I measured the watt draw on the system while idle is was around 80 watts I think. I think it will work fine with this power supply, Nvidia recommends at least 300 watts.
I just wasn't sure how the HDMI audio works as my other setup (x58 i7 980x 12GB ram 128gb SSDx2 (raid0) with a GTX295) has a Spdif audio cable that connects from the video card to the motherboard to get the audio passed to the HDMI port.
After reading last night, it looks as though you disable the onboard sound and the Nvidia card does the audio?
Again, I'd rather not add a card, because it costs more, and has more parts to break and fans, but if I have to I will...Luckily I don't need the system working till after my HDHomerun Prime Triple comes.
I didn't know about this problem until I hooked up the system to my LCD and then did some Googling and found this. If I knew beforehand I might have changed the configuration slightly. Maybe a P67 MicroATX mobo with no onboard video ports and add a GTX430 so I can utilize the 1600Mhz RAM sticks I have. But now I don't really want to take apart everything to return the Mobo to newegg etc...
One thing also I don't get is why are people wanting 23htz and 59 htz?
I use 60htz when I use the PC and 24htz when I play blurays. Is there something I'm missing without using 23htz and 59htz?
Intel please fix this asap.

The main HTPC outputs audio over an optical connection but it just worked with HDMI when I first plugged it into the TV. I'm pretty sure the mobo's sound chip processes the sound and just routes it through the GPU's HDMI connection but I'm not 100% sure. It should be under the sound options in the Control Panel to select which output to use. My guess is you are loosing bit streaming if you are routing sound over HDMI straight to a TV anyway. You may need to configure sound to a format your destination (TV/Receiver) can handle if you can't get sound to output. If the destination can't decode the sound properly, the system needs to do it.
I have the same PSU but switched to the 430W one because of the 4 HDD I have in it. 380W ought to handle your load with a GT 430. It's been my experience that using the HD2000/3000 Intel drivers to watch TV through media center is too buggy right now. There are memory bleed issues and stuttering video and MPEG4 decoding issues that a more mature GPU seems to handle better..
The 24hz/23hz issue is another bugaboo. Apparently it's thought for Intel integrated graphics to output the 23.9# hz as opposed to a pure 24hz and only some modern TV's can properly process a pure 24hz signal. There is just the occasional overlapped frame every few minutes that bothers some people if this isn't working correctly so I don't think it's all that big of a deal. I researched this once but it was over my TV handles pure 24hz so I'm set.
Finally, why wait for the HD home run? The Ceton cable card is only $50 more and FluidDigital may knock another $30 off the price. Ceton does HD and premium content for 4 streams at once. You can even share some of the tuners with other computers on the home network or over media extenders.
you can email me at mailto:dmsher99@gmail.com dmsher99@gmail.com if you need any more help.

I wonder what changed with the newer test driver. Regarding the 23.976 fps I think Anand was right, it's a hardware limitation and won't be fixed. On the other side the HDMI stuff should be possible to solve considering that old drivers were fine for most people.

"i think it is hw limitation.." .. hmm, another opinion in internet discussion, why bother, I see no reason for switching to 1024x768@60 when selecting 1920x1080@23, better approximation of my choice is definitely possible

I cannot test the BSOD and 23.976 HZ issue but I can say Metro 2033 is still broken as well as Hawx 2 the menu font. Oh and DXVA still doesn't work but I'm not surprised. Hopefully the BSOD and/or 23.976 HZ timing will be fixed with this driver at least, waiting for other user comments on this.

In my Asus P8H67M-PRO (VBIOS 2080.0) I'm getting the same results as driver 2401; no BSODs but the following refresh rates are still broken: 23, 29, 59 Hz. When I choose one of them, the display reverts to 1280x720@60Hz. In addition, 25 Hz works in 1920x1024 but it puts the display in interlaced mode instead of progressive.
When downgrading to driver 2291 all these issues disappear.

I'm running an Asus P8H67M-EVO (Bios 1702 w/ VBios 2080) and I'm also getting the same results as with the 2401 driver. No 23 or 59Hz. When I select these it reverts to 1024x768@60Hz. I am able to run at 1920x1080@60Hz with this and 2401 driver, but it's not ideal. Would it be possible for you to tell us what you think is going on?

Hi I am still unable to connect over HDMI on an ASUS H67 motherboard. The screens goes completely blank when it gets to the windows start screen (it displays the BIOS and "windows is starting" message fine, however). I have never been able to connect through HDMI with Intel HD 3000 graphics and this motherboard (P8H67-M PRO). I am running Win7 x64. Can't believe this hasn't been fixed yet its been like 3 updates and you still cant let me connect over HDMI, not good atall Intel

Robert,
No luck. This latest driver reacts the same as with all of the drivers I've tried on my Gigabyte GA-H67A-UD3H-B3 and my i7 2600.
I can use the digital ports (HDMI, DVI) if I reinstall any of the drivers and don't reboot. But as soon as I reboot only the analog (VGA) port works.
And Gigabyte still hasn't posted a BIOS level with the updated VBIOS so I'm still at 2080.
