Intel 965 chipset and choppy playback

Hi,

720P video files play choppy on Dell Vostro 1400. The laptop is old! I tried both WMP and VLC. Is the laptop spec enough to play 720P video files? The display driver is up-to-date.

Here’s the spec:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo, T5470, 1.6 GHz

Installed memory : 2.00 GB

Video Controller: Intel 965GM Express Chipset

Display: 14.1-inch WXVGA 1280 x 800

OS: Windows 7 Professional 32-bit

When trying to update the driver, I see "Windows has determined the driver software for your driver is up to date". The display driver:

Moreover I checked Dell Support website,The driver for Intel GM965 Graphics Controller is for Windows XP and Windows 2000 :

Best advice I can give is that you should replace this laptop with something newer. Honestly, this puppy is 11-years-old. Even the solder they used is past its MTBF date.
