Hi, I got my ARC 770 mid march on a completely brand new build
13700F- no integrated graphics
CPU undervolted -0.1, no error code, very stable.
Asrock z790 pro RS
6000DDR5 ram
Samsung SSD
crucial SSD
REBAR on
after a month, I started experiencing Black screens in the middle of my games. I am in the middle of gaming, when suddenly, the screen stops responding and cuts to black. The audio at this time also stops and starts looping.
The only way to get out of this is to restart my computer, otherwise it stays on the black screen.
I notice this phenomenon everytime i play a high GPU usage game, such as Final Fantasy VII remake and Valorant. The coil whine is insane during this time too.
The most frequency crashes are during FFVII:R, where i am basically guaranteed one crash per session.
I have also black screened a couple of times just booting in the morning.
I checked event viewer, but could not see anything that happens at the time of crash relating to graphics that i could tell. but maybe i didnt know what to look for.
I have used DDU to install drivers, have been updating my drivers constantly when they come out, including beta ones.
Im not sure what to do next, and am uncertain if there is anything wrong with my GPU.
i have been shutting off my PC with the Powe button constantly because of these crashes.
possible RMA?
Thanks for the help

I have also experienced these issues in different applications however I think I have somewhat solved them, mitigated them or worked around them, here are my suggestions.
If you adjusted your ram timings when tuning or overclocked the arc a770 then return the settings to their default for both as well as the cpu for about a week when trying the other suggestions as the errors won't always show up in event viewer or dmp files. Black screens may occur when gaming if enough voltage is not being supplied to the cpu so you either need to use the default voltage or try using a higher load line calibration.
I stopped experiencing freezing or black screen when booting after using the other display port so try using the other display port on the gpu.
Try using dxvk-async @:https://github.com/Sporif/dxvk-async/release for the games that have issues. I tried it with world of final fantasy and the graphical issues were removed.
Some issues may occur due to the games themselves. Games are being released with bugs so it may be hard to determine if the issue is with the game or gpu. A good example of this is Spider-man Remastered that would sometimes crash during missions or fast travel and may sometimes pause for a couple seconds for loading shaders.
Although the A770 was made to work great with direct x12, the API implementation in some applications may not work well with the A770 and cause black screen so sometimes for emulation you might need to change the API then close and delete all the shader cache then re-open the app. Some other setting configuration may also not work the ARC A770 so you might have to test each.
I haven't experienced any coil whine so I can't help with that specific issue.

Hey, thanks for the reply!
as a reply to your suggestions, I found came to the following conclusions:
For the black screen issue, Im certain its a GPU issue because the past CPU undervolt and ram issues always has a blue screen with a error code, because the graphics is still functional enough to put it out. I know its not a cpu death either, because otherwise the computer would have just shut off
as for display port, I have two monitors attached, and both lose input at the same time, so a third display port wont matter.
I use DXVK on games that need it, but i dont think its compatible with the things i need.
It could be a API implementation, and that is more complicated, but i need an answer to the dead display
Im hoping a intel support technician can help eventually too.

I have the same problem when playing CSGO
But in low load games, such as League of Legends, there has never been a black screen.
I tried to limit the power consumption of the graphics card in Intel ArcControl (190w ->160w) and adjust the fan curve to make the graphics card work in a cool environment, but these issues have not been resolved yet
I am sure this is an issue with the graphics card driver, please fix it!!!
When the screen is black, the sound no longer outputs and the graphics card stops signal output (regardless of any interface), but the graphics card fan and RGB light are still working, which is strange. In this situation, no matter how long it takes to wait, it will not recover and only the restart button on the chassis can be used. I know that over time, it will cause damage to other hardware.
After experiencing multiple black screens, I successfully captured 2 dmp files, hoping to help solve this problem.

Hi Andres,
Here are the files and reports you requested.
This time the audio wasnt buggy because i simply crashed in a pause menu, where there was no sound. but i captured the crash itself.
Here is the video and screenshot, this website doesnt allow me to post either, so i put it in a google drive if thats okay

Seems like the latest driver 31.0.101.4499 fixed the black screen issues in yuzu. Try updating to it and check if your still experiencing the issue in the applications you previously had issues with.

I actually experienced black screen twice in the last hour. I think it might be due to a conflict with Web Experience. It occurred in Final Fantasy 15 and yuzu.

Yea, i also find the arc has many conflicts, like i cant use my audio interface, or it causes latency. that issue has been posted on the forums before, but no conclusion

thanks! i think that rules out mobo,
did you tamper with any undervolting/ voltage settings in bios? for cpu

Yes I adjusted the settings for the cpu. I believe the last two black screens that occurred were due to an unstable overclock on the gpu cause I tested it again in yuzu but stayed on the start screen of a game for a while instead of going into the game. It caused a black screen in less than 2 minutes when using the specific overclock settings but when I set the performance boost back to 0 there was no black screen. Also, I realized that anytime a crash occurs you'll have to reinstall the drivers again otherwise you'll get black screens again even though the settings are stable.

did you tamper with overclock on gpu in the intel control centre? i didnt touch anything, but maybe its already overclocked?
after i flashed new update on bios (that came out after the problem first appearing, so i didnt know there was as update, its been stabled 4/4. im not sure if its because of DDU, bios flash, or both together.
i wont know if i solved the issue until its a problem again...
what cpu settings did you tamper? i realized i set the undervolt wrong, im currently undervolting, but using different settings. asrock bios is not the most intuitive

Hello Inshiaye,
Thank you for your answer, all the information provided has been really helpful.
Please make a new post for the audio interface issue as this is a different issue than the one we are troubleshooting in this thread.
Please follow the steps below and let me know the results:
- Where did you buy the game? For example Epc, Steam, etc.
- Update BIOS to version 7.04 on ASRock Support. Gor installation steps contact them.
- Clean install graphics driver version 31.0.101.4499 using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU). For guidance How to Use the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to Uninstall an Intel® Graphics Driver.
