Intel Arc A380 doesn't work well with Siemens Solid Edge

The Intel Arc A380 GPU is not being utilized as it should be with Siemens Solid Edge (not SOLIDWORKS!) 3D CAD software.
I have attached two webp videos that record the 3D CAD extruding operation with Task Manager GPU usage.

- SolidEdge.webm
When extruding a simple cylinder, the A380 GPU is only utilized around 16%.
The performance is slow, similar to the Intel UHD 730 CPU integrated GPU.
Solid Edge version is 2410.0001 (build 225.00.01.004 x64).

- DesignSpark.webm
I also tested a similar task on DesignSpark Mechanical, another 3D CAD software from RS Components.
This performs much better, with the A380 GPU being utilized more than 50%, and the movement is much smoother compared to Solid Edge.
Design Spark version is 6.0.3.

I've also attached the SSU log.
Resizable BAR is enabled.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could take a look and help me understand what might be going on.

I think this is related to the following post.

Hi packn,

Thank you for posting in the Community.

I appreciate the effort you've put into documenting the issue, including the videos and SSU log.

To better understand the situation, could you please share what troubleshooting steps you have already attempted to resolve this issue? Additionally, was the GPU working well with Solid Edge before, or is this a new problem that has recently developed?

Knowing what has been tried and the history of the issue can help us avoid redundancy and focus on new solutions.

Best regards,

I've tried the following troubleshooting steps.

- Updated BIOS to the latest version

- Disabled the CPU integrated GPU (UHD 730)

- Clean Solid Edge 2025 installation.

- Changed the refresh rate between 59.951Hz and 74.987Hz

- Performed a clean driver install (both the latest driver and an older version from last year, though I can't remember the exact version)

This problem is not new.

It's happening on both Solid Edge 2024 and 2025, the latest versions.

The issue seems to have been present for a while.

I have never seen Solid Edge work properly with the A380 GPU.

Hi packn,

To assist us in replicating the problem on our end, could you please provide the following information?

  • Specific Software Settings: Could you share the specific settings you are using with the software involved, such as OBS and any games where you're experiencing performance issues? This will help us understand your configuration and replicate the conditions accurately.

  • SSU Log: Please download and run the Intel System Support Utility (SSU) from here. Generate a report and attach it to your response. This log will give us detailed information about your system configuration and help us diagnose the issue more effectively.

Your cooperation in providing this information is greatly appreciated and will help us expedite the troubleshooting process. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to reach out.

No specific software settings are required to replicate the issue.

The issue happens with default settings.

Steps to Reproduce:

Download Solid Edge Community Edition from below and install.

https://resources.sw.siemens.com/en-US/download-solid-edge-community-edition/

Start it and open a new file.

Then select "iso metric part.par".

Draw a circle then extruding.

Ensure that "Application Display -> Graphics card driven (Advanced)" is set.

This is usually set by default, but please double-check.

The SSU log is already attached at the first post.

Hi packn,

Before we proceed with further investigation, I recommend updating your Intel Graphics Driver to the latest version, 32.0.101.6653. This update may address some of the issues you're encountering and provide improved performance. You can download the latest driver from the following link: Intel® Arc™ & Iris® Xe Graphics - Windows*

Once you've installed the updated driver, please let me know if there are any changes in performance or if the issues persist. This will help us determine the next steps in diagnosing and resolving the problem.

Thank you for your cooperation and support. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to reach out.

Hi packn,

I wanted to share some important updates regarding the graphics driver and performance testing that may help resolve the issues you've been experiencing.

Please install the latest graphics driver, version 32.0.101.6734 WHQL Certified. This update has shown significant performance improvements and may address the issues you're facing. Download the driver here: Intel® Arc™ & Iris® Xe Graphics - Windows*

DeancR_Intel_1-1744829803022.png

A test was conducted to replicate the issue using the graphics driver version 32.0.101.6653. However, upon testing the latest Intel Arc driver for the A380 with version 32.0.101.6734 WHQL Certified, we observed a significant performance gain. Siemens Solid Edge is now able to utilize the GPU more effectively.

Also tested the performance of another graphics card, the NVIDIA RTX 3060, with NVIDIA Studio Driver 572.83. The previous behavior, where the CPU is more utilized than the graphics card, was visible with this setup as well.

Please share an updated photo of your GPU's performance and provide a System Support Utility (SSU) report if the issue still persists. This information will help us further diagnose and address any remaining concerns.
