Intel Arc stuck at native 1440p output

Hello,

I'm using an Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition with a GIGABYTE G32QC monitor (2560x1440 native resolution).

No matter what resolution I set in Windows (e.g., 1920x1080) or in games like CS2 (fullscreen), the GPU always outputs a 2560x1440 signal to the monitor, which affects performance and scaling behavior.

I've updated the monitor firmware and GPU drivers and tried different scaling modes, but the monitor still receives a 1440p signal. When setting a 4:3 resolution like 1280x1024 in CS2 (fullscreen), it still outputs 2560x1440, making it impossible to get proper 4:3 scaling.

Is there any way to force the GPU to output the actual resolution I set in Windows or in-game?

Hello Skrobek,

Thank you for posting in Intel community Forum.

For me to further check this, please help provide the following details:

  1. When did you start having this issue?
  2. Was it working fine before?
  3. What was the last change in the system before the issue started?
  4. Are you using an Intel brand Arc B580?
  5. Do you have other app or program that can also change the display settings that may having conflict with the setting that you are changing?

If you have questions, please let us know. Thank you.

Hello,

Thank you for your response. Please find my answers to your questions below:
1. I started having this issue as soon as I connected my computer to my current monitor (GIGABYTE G32QC). I strongly believe the issue is related to the monitor, because when I tested the same computer (with the same settings and GPU) on a different monitor, everything worked correctly.
2. Yes, it worked fine when I tested it on a different monitor at my friend’s place — I didn’t change anything in the system, and the resolution was applied correctly.
3. I didn’t make any system changes before the issue started — it occurred immediately after connecting the G32QC monitor.
4. Yes, I’m using the Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition (Intel brand).
5. No, I only use Intel Graphics Software. I don’t have any other apps that could interfere with display settings.

Let me know if you need additional information or logs. I’ll be happy to assist further.

Best regards,
Alan

Please set the desired resolution in the Windows display settings. Then open the Intel Graphics Software and set the Scaling Mode to Display Scaling. If this mode is already set, change it to one of the other available options and then back to Display Scaling. The change should then take effect in the active signal mode.

Hello Michael,

Apologies for the delayed response.

I’ve tried everything, including the suggestions from the other forum user, but unfortunately, nothing resolved the issue. I eventually had to give up and returned the graphics card.

After switching to a different GPU, the problem no longer occurs. I’m still not entirely sure what caused it, but it might have been related to Intel’s drivers.

Thank you for your assistance and support throughout the process.

Best regards,
Alan

Hello Skrobek,

Thank you for the update and I am sorry to hear that.

I was about to gather more details to further investigate the cause of the issue.

Since you already returned the unit, I need to close this inquiry.

If you need further assistance, please post a new question as this thread will no longer be monitored.

Thank you and have a great day.
