Intel Atom Z2760 GMA driver update for windows 10 - mixed messages from intel - please provide driver!

Dear Intel people- reg the problem::

Windpws10,"Driver availability for the graphics controller on the processor model Z2760"

I find it quite unprofessional and very frustrating that Intel communicates completely different messages via different media channels:

In this forum (see /message/320186# 320186 Intel Atom and Windows 10) you state development of the driver is not done by Intel - whereas via twitter Intel states that the driver developement is actually onggoing:

https://twitter.com/LeCoeurSec/status/626635024369119232 Kristijan on Twitter: "@IntelSupport Hi, hello. Just a quick question. Will Atom Z2760 ever support Windows 10 ( graphic…

"https://twitter.com/IntelSupport @IntelSupport Hi, hello. Just a quick question. Will Atom Z2760 ever support Windows 10 ( graphics medila accelerator in particular)? -

IntelSupport@IntelSupport https://twitter.com/IntelSupport/status/626644277100195840 30. Juli https://twitter.com/LeCoeurSec @LeCoeurSec Oh yes!! We will have it soon on our website. Pls feel free to ping us for any help.- AT"

Also, reg. ownership of the driver-update: The current windows 8.1 GMA driver is copyrighted by Intel (Version 9.14.3.1177) - how can you state that further development is owned by the device manufacturer, i.e. Samsung??

It is Intels responsibility to develop the GMA driver update, since Intel developed and copyrighted the 8.1 Version!

Pls respond with a throughly researched answer (i.e. pls no reference to a not updated compatibiltiy list, which does not even state Win 10 for the entire Atom Family, like in other answers like here: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-034343.htm Graphics Drivers — Supported Operating Systems) - we all are waiting eagerly on this driver to be able to update our tablets properly to Win10.

I think you owe it to all the early adaptors, who bought the 1st available Intel Windows Tablet, so that they can use the intended update for their Tablets,

Thank you.

Heiner

Hi ASUS_fan,

I made a brief video. Hopefully this answers some of your questions.

Thanks for the video Coro!

As you can see at 0:05 (https://youtu.be/yFujKA7sdjY?t=5s link) you can see that the text disappears, which shouldn't happen. Also, if you right click an item in the taskbar, the menu isn't readable (as DPCDog already stated). Those simple ignorances seriously ruin the 'experience' on my tablet. That's why I reverted back to Windows 8.1.

Intel (or OEMs like Samsung and Acer) should fix these glitches with a new driver as these are very annoying!

Thanks for your feed back Coro!

Can you please let us know if your friend runs into (more) issues on his Tab 3 here?

Greetings from the Netherlands.

Thank you for your feedback. It seems that there are issues which we would not have noticed without you.

You are right about the disappearing text in the news app. I did not notice that before.

Concerning the taskbar. In both modes (tablet and desktop) a readable text appears on my friends tablet with every element on the taskbar.

DPCDog is right with Cortana. The lateral menu of Cortana lacks the icons .

Sure I will, Cynicotb.

I assume, that my friend will only notice serious issues, because she uses her tablet only for basic tasks.

Greetings from nearby Germany.

I have an ASUS ME400C (Vivotab Smart, Atom Z2760 Clover Trail). I upgraded it to windows 10 and it installed a generic video driver overwriting the installed Intel GMA driver for Windows 8.

I reinstalled the Ausus drivers for it (the clover trail chipset) and it all works fine now including native Intel driver for the video.

You can download them here http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/EeePAD/ME400C/ME400C-DriverPackage-500.zip http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/EeePAD/ME400C/ME400C-DriverPackage-500.zip

I have tried to install various linux distros but no luck so far.

The reFind UEFI drivers allow you to boot the 32bit UEFI into any OS but the best I have got is to the login prompt for Debian 8.2 but then have no keyboard or mouse. It complains about not having Marvell's Orion USB drivers which, from what I understand, are ARM systems only so it probably needs a special Intel compatible driver.

I also think that Intel with all their resources could easily have driver source code written for linux but I feel that they are only interested in their corporate strategies and don't really care about customers who have already bought their eqiupment cause thay have our money already.

Hi Bignumbas,

The compatible graphics driver for Windows® 10 is provided with Microsoft®. It is necessary to run Windows® update utility. Unfortunately there are no drivers for Windows® 10 available in our website.

Some apps that worked on Windows 8 are unusable in Windows 10 because of a glitch in the latest drivers. All users of Acer Iconia W510/W511 (for example, me), Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2, Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 10, Samsung Ativ Smart PC, Asus Vivotab TF810C and many other Z2760 tablets are asking Intel to fix this.

Here is how the latest driver from Windows Update works:

Please, update the graphics driver for our platform the last time!

Hi All,

If you have third party tablets or small notebooks please use the drivers available on your manufacturer website.

If you already have Windows® 10, keep using Windows® update utility.

You didn't explain how manufacturers or Microsoft could update an Intel copyrighted driver ?

Please provide an updated driver, or explain why it is not possible (with technical details, not just a no support statement)

Hi All,

I understand your frustration; however, Windows® 10 operating system changed a lot if we compare it with any previous OS.

The generic driver is produced by Intel® but, Windows® customizes it according to their requirements. The graphics embedded in the Intel® Atom™ processor Z2760 are basic and it has limitations on Windows® 10.

We need a new driver. Why Microsoft obsessively offers update to Windows 10 on unsupported device?

I upgraded to Windows 10 and now my tablet is absolutely unusable - applications are displayed incorrectly,

after upgrading Intel audio driver (from Windows update) my sound device not responding and can't be restored,

in hibernate state my battery completely drained from 100% to 0% for a few hours!

Good day to you all,

I have a Lenovo Mixx the first one, with the Atom z27XX chip,

I'd been using Windows 8.1, and then tried Windows 10 at launch , and eventually gaver up in the end, after trying various different drivers..

I then decided to have another go based on the builds of windows 10 changing so much, I thought perhaps it might work now! (LOL)

Here are my findings and to be honest I've had no BSOD's (or SAD's) with this approach,

I'd recommend you get the latest Chipset pack driver from your Tablet provider,

when you extract it, it will likely have display driver in this pack! (think the latest version was 56) seems to appear in a few XML files ive looked into...

the root of the file will probably be along the lines of this,

Drivers (Folder)

Config.xml (file)

Setup.exe (file)

readme(file)

right click the Config.xml file, open with / notepad.

in the XML file the last set of

***.inf

were the ***.inf is, browse the drivers folder/graphics folder, does this .inf file exist in here?

if so it Graphics Driver, once you have found the GFX driver remove the lines for this file..

and to be sure delete the Graphics folder from inside drivers folder too.

(Delete all you see above from to )

(NOTE you will have to remove the file from the Config.xml file or the setup will error, if you just delete the GFX Folder)

once complete, You now reboot and have every driver except the working Video driver is installed..

(or if you have another way of getting to this point fine use that :-P)

now Head over to

see attachment!

[Graphics/Win8_32bit] intel GMA driver for LG Notebook.(Ver 9.14.3.1102)

FilenameRelease DateSizehttp://www.lg.com/au/support-product/lg-H160 VGAintelW8_v9143.zip

its very early and was written for window 8.0, that said it seems to work perfectly on my windows 10 Setup.

Don't get any Sleep, Crash's, don't appear to have any real glitching in cortana. the only issue I would say is that the video someone renders slow,(but machins isn't a super computer! Lol) that said it work perfectly well with Media video's I've tested, and the key for me was no BSOD's.. so yes, Intel may have not been able to produce a driver that works but hay! the old version 1102. seems to do the job Most of the time so far!

you may have to install the driver manually, so via Device manager, and chose update driver, browse my computer for software,

then let me pick from a list of devices, have disk and point to the extracted location of the video file you downloaded.

(you may get a message saying that this doesn't work on your version of windows.) any issue with the driver being signed too can be ignored)

(Their is also a trick of coping the INF file and CAT file from you existing GFX driver, if it still wont install you may have to try this ..)

ive attached the working driver to this post!

Let me know your feedback..

Hope it Helps

The situation doesn't seem to have changed with 14393 (Anniversary Update) re Metro glitches (Edge, Store, etc). This is probably not surprising, since the video driver is unchanged.

Hi all,

i'm new to the intel community, and i know this is an old thread, but i want to share my tests outcome with Windows10 Anniversary Update and the GMA on the Z2760 and a possible workaround i'm working on.

I've a Samsung Ativ XE500 and i'm experiencing the already mentioned problem about "labels not readable on overlays/menu" (such as the notification areas, contextual menus of the taskbar and tabs-title in Edge.

Some days ago I was testing some other "user interface shell", alternatives to Explorer, that in my opinion do something "in the wrong way"... trying to workaround the problem. I ended trying https://sourceforge.net/projects/emerge/ Emerge Desktop (from Sourceforge) : installed the shell and rebooted. When i logged in, I encountered some problems in rendering the gui, so I use the menu to "exit Emerge" and then started the classic Explorer shell... with everything in its correct place!

I try rebooting the tablet, powering off and on again, login-logout... and every time I've exited the alternative shell, Explorer was fully functional.

So i started thinking that the problem was that the GUI is calling some function not properly

So uninstalled the Emerge Desktop shell, I created a small program with visual studio as a very basic-for-debugging shell and rebooted the system...

Now after logging-in the system start my "simple" shell... and if I wait, for example, 26 or 30seconds and then I start Explorer, everything is shown : all the labels and all the menus. Every boot and every login since some days, if I wait a bit before starting the real Explorer shell, everything is usable.

I'm working on the "basic" shell to try to dig a bit... trying to discover what component is causing this behaviour and WHY waiting seems to be a workaround. Maybe some components are not fully loaded?

If someone wants to try this very basic workaround, please tell me and I will share some instructions and the executables files.

I know it's not "THE SOLUTION", but at the moment i regain control of my XE500!!

regards, g

That works fine for me on Lenovo Tablet with Atom Z2760 cpu, failed to install version "22H2"

Found that information on Microsoft support site.
