Intel Atom Z2760 in Windows 10 OpenGL workaround

Hi all,

after experimenting a LOT!, by resetting and rebuilding my Lenovo Tablet IdeaPad 10" uncountable times, I found a way to enable finally OpenGL in Windows 10. I run Windows 10 build 1709. Kind of tricky to install or to make a clean install... Use a mini-USB connector to set-up a USB-Hub. You need a external Keyboard and mice; further a USB-Drive with the Win10 32bit installation. Create the installation media with the tool from Microsoft and then boot with from the USB-Drive(EFI)

Windows10 will install completely.

Wait for any system-updates to complete! Takes a while...

Install the Platform-driver of your Z2760.

Restart after the driver-installation is complete. I believe on other brands you have to install according to the manufacturer the same ways.

I have installed also the Klite codec pack afterwards with MPC included.

You will have the standard Intel Graphics Media accelerator installed, but no OpenGL or WDDM 1.2 support!

Download the windows7 32bit AGM 3600 Driver from Intel. Unpack. Enforce the driver installation. Windows will complain it is not compatible. Ignore it.

Restart the System. The Graphic-Adapter is now with an exclamation mark, cannot start Intel AGM 3600. Only the basic windows driver is loaded.

Download from windows update now the latest driver. It will be the latest available: Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator; 11/15/2013; 9.14.3.1177;

Reboot the system. Now you have OpenGL support, WDDM 1.2, DirectX.

PLEASE be careful about. It worked for me! It does NOT mean it automatically works for your system also, but you can give it a shot. 🙂

I am not an Graphics-Expert, but I have found out the OpenGL Drivers are installed from the Windows7 and reside with the settings in the registry. Many people report the same issues with an upgrade to Windows 10 from 7 or 8 and drivers are working also for other devices, like Fingerprint, etc. Apparently the upgrade stores the HW Information. On a fresh Win10 installation this is lost. It seems the old driver writes this info into the registry and gives the support required.

I hope this helps a few people out there. So far I have no issues even with CAD Software or a few games I have tested.
