Intel D845GBV Sound Problem!! HELP!!

I have an Intel D845gbv which is pretty old that is having a sound problem. I had it working well before i had a short circuit in my house. My computer restarted and then it said that it is missing a .sys file so i had to repair that problem with my Windows XP cd. And that fixed the .sys file missing. Since then the audio is scratchy and distorted. I tried to change my speaker to another one and it is a bit better but not like beofre. I tried re-installing the driver and it is still the same thing. I have an integrated sound card. When I play video games, it doesn't sound scratchy but when i play music, it just sounds scratchy. I also tried to run an audio test on SOUNDMAX and it was very good. No scratch. I don't know what's wrong. Please help. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
