Hi Ogmios,
Thank you for reaching out about the Intel-Gfx-Display-External Event ID 10 errors you're experiencing with your Core Ultra 9 275HX system. I can see you're getting thousands of these errors daily in Event Viewer while using an external display connected to your RTX 5070 Ti via DisplayPort.
I notice you're already running the latest Intel graphics driver version 32.0.101.8136, which is good.
When did this issue start? Was this happening from the beginning, or did it start after a recent change (driver update, Windows update, etc.)?
Since this appears to be a laptop system with hybrid GPU configuration, I'd recommend using the OEM-provided graphics drivers as they're specifically optimized for your laptop's hardware configuration. However, I'll do my best to assist you with this issue.
Could you please provide an Intel SSU report for detailed system analysis? Download: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005567/processors.html
If you're not comfortable sharing the SSU report, please provide your exact laptop model.
If the issue persists after our troubleshooting, you may need to contact your laptop manufacturer (OEM) as they have specialized expertise with your specific hardware configuration and hybrid GPU setup.
Best regards,
Dean R.

Same situation with me.
- CPU: Core Ultra 9 275HX
- DGPU: NVidia GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop
- Hybrid GPU Mode: ON
- NO External display
- Intel Display Driver: 32.0.101.6629, also tested 32.0.101.8136 both with this error
When booting Windows, there is a 10 second delay between the Windows logo and the login screen, which is caused by the Intel driver, because with NVidia graphics everything starts immediately. - Mark as New

Hi Ogmios,
Thank you for the detailed information and for providing the Intel SSU report. I can see that this Intel-Gfx-Display-External Event ID 10 error has been present from the beginning with both vendor-provided and Intel drivers, and you've provided valuable context about the issue potentially affecting multiple vendors since driver version 32.0.101.6042.
To help me analyze this issue further, could you please provide the complete Event Viewer logs following the specific instructions in this guide: https://community.intel.com/t5/Intel-ARC-Graphics/Need-help-Reporting-a-bug-or-issue-with-Arc-GPU-PLEASE-READ-THIS/m-p/1494429#M5057
This will give me more detailed information about the frequency and patterns of these Event ID 10 errors.
Hi @Ondra, I acknowledge that you're experiencing a similar issue with your Core Ultra 9 275HX system. To avoid confusion and ensure you receive focused support, could you please create a new support thread for your specific inquiry?
Best regards,
Dean R.

Hi Ogmios,
Thank you for providing the Event Viewer logs in the GfxDisplayExEventViewer-251017.zip file. I appreciate you exporting the Intel-Gfx-Display-External/GfxDisplayExEventViewer logs.
Before I proceed with checking this internally, I notice that you provided an IPDT report (ipdt-ultra9-275hx-251016.txt), but I need a complete Intel SSU report for proper system analysis.
Could you please provide a full Intel SSU report using the Intel System Support Utility? You can download it here: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005567/processors.html
The SSU report will provide more comprehensive system information that's needed for analyzing these Intel-Gfx-Display-External Event ID 10 errors on your Core Ultra 9 275HX system.
Once I receive the complete SSU report along with the Event Viewer logs you've already provided, I'll be able to check this internally for further analysis.
Best regards,
Dean R.

The provided link is invalid in this case... and should be:
https://intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/18377/intel-system-support-utility-for-windows.html
The following might be related to this issue, but I'm not sure yet:
When playing a video (I'm using https://mpv.io), and I'm turning off the display programmatically (using SendMessage, e.g. in AHK: SendMessage(0xF170, 0x112, 2, , "Program Manager")), the DGPU power usage goes up (e.g. from 16W to 21W in case of a 4k video and from 16W to 26W in case of streaming), even if the player window is minimized. And I can see a lot of external display errors in Event Viewer.
Once the display is back, the power consumption returns to normal.
All of this was working fine on my old laptop (also Intel IGPU + NVidia DGPU).

Hi Ogmios,
Thank you for providing the detailed Event Viewer logs and the additional information about the video playback power consumption issue when turning off the display programmatically. This additional context is very helpful for understanding the scope of the problem.
I also appreciate you correcting the SSU link - you're absolutely right, and I apologize for the confusion.
Before I proceed with internal analysis of your inquiry, I need to confirm one important detail about your driver installation:
Did you perform a clean installation of the latest Intel graphics driver (32.0.101.8136)?
A clean installation involves:
- Using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove all previous graphics drivers
- Restarting the system
- Installing the fresh Intel graphics driver
If you haven't performed a clean installation, I'd recommend doing so as it can resolve many driver-related issues, including Event Viewer errors. Sometimes remnants from previous driver installations can cause conflicts that manifest as these types of errors.

The driver from the vendor was installed on a brand new windows installation.
Nonetheless I did a clean install (DDU, restart, install 32.0.101.8136), cleared the Event Viewer logs just before restarting after the driver install, and already got 382 "Intel-Gfx-Display-External cannot be found" errors.

Also it is absolutely clear now that this very issue is causing the sudden temporary spikes in CPU/GPU usage I have mentioned above.
After restarting my system again and without starting any application my system was idle for long enough so that windows turned off my display. Right after that the CPU/GPU fans were turned up for a few seconds (indicating the higher temperature, power consumption and usage), and after checking Event Viewer, I could see new "Intel-Gfx-Display-External cannot be found" errors exactly from the period, when the display was turned off.

Hi Ogmios,
Thank you for performing the clean driver installation and providing the detailed follow-up information. I can see that even after a clean DDU installation of driver version 32.0.101.8136, you're still experiencing the Intel-Gfx-Display-External errors (382 errors already), and you've made an excellent observation connecting these errors to the CPU/GPU usage spikes when the display turns off.
Your correlation between the display power management events and the sudden fan activity is very insightful and helps confirm that these Event Viewer errors are indeed causing real system performance impacts, not just benign log entries.
I understand how frustrating this must be, especially when you've followed all the proper troubleshooting steps including a clean installation on a fresh Windows setup. The fact that this occurs even during idle display power-off events suggests a deeper driver compatibility issue with your system's power management.
I'd like you to try updating to the latest Intel graphics driver version 32.0.101.8247, which may contain fixes for these display power management issues. You can download it here: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/785597/intel-arc-graphics-windows.html
Please perform another clean installation using DDU, install this newer driver version, and monitor if the frequency of these errors decreases. The newer driver may have addressed the display power management conflicts you're experiencing.
Let me know the results after testing with the updated driver.
Best regards,
Dean R.
