Hi,

I can't play 4k video file on my Lenovo ThinkPad T560, it's always lag and low FPS.

I try to play 4k video file from http://4ksamples.com/elysium-2013-2160p-1-minute-sample-footage/ Elysium 2013 2160p - 1 Minute Sample Footage - Free 4K Sample Footage or http://4ksamples.com/ses-astra-uhd-test-1-2160p-uhdtv/ SES Astra UHD Test 1 2160p UHDTV Free 4K Sample Footage or any 4k video files

using from Windows Movies&TV, VLC, MPC-HC, K-Lite Codec Pack to PotPlayer,

PotPlayer perform best but still lag with average 10 FPS.

I've tried update my BIOS, Chipset, Graphic Card Driver from http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/th/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t560/downloads laptops and netbooks :: thinkpad t series laptops :: thinkpad t560 Lenovo PC Support

Still no improve.

I can play 4k content from Youtube just fine. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNJdPyoqt8U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNJdPyoqt8U)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNJdPyoqt8U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNJdPyoqt8Ubut only on mp4 not vp9 format, if video plays in vp9 format CPU usage will rise to 100% and video will lags.

I've attach Report from System Scan Utility below.

Hi, Alberto

Thank you very much for the update, I've tried to install driver 4901 but it gives me an error "The driver being install is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate drive from the computer manufacturer."

I've tried download driver by Lenovo Vantage (Lenovo software to upgrade driver), their Graphics Driver is version 22.20.16.4836

Are there any workaround to this?

Hi, i have update video driver to the last version and videos are lagging. As far as i am concerned Intel HD 520 doesn't support HEVC (H. 265 ) and VP 9 fully that's why CPU load is 100%. It is supported by Kaby Lake processors and new Coffee Lake. All these videos Elysium 2013 2160p/ SES Astra UHD are with video.codec HEVC Main 10@L5.1. So we can only watch 4K videos with 24fps AVC H.264. Also my laptop has Nvidia GT 940M dedicated graphics card and it doesn't support HEVC (H.265) too and videos are lagging. For watching these videos we need new Kaby/Coffee Lake processors or Laptop's GTX 965M and newer. If am not right please write about it. Sorry, if i wrong.

P.S i can watch these video with help of PotPlayer with some video filter's.

Hello everyone,

First I would like to acknowledge that this has taken a lot of time and you have been extremely patient, so thank you.

Our development team is still working on this one. In the meantime, we have released a https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27484 new driver 15.65.4.4944, please feel free to try it out and let us know if it makes any difference.

Heads-up, there is no specific fix for this issue in this driver, but since this is a brand new https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005654/graphics-drivers.html driver baseline, your feedback would be very useful to our ongoing investigation.

Best Regards,

Hello everyone,

Once again, thank you for your incredible patience.

Our development team has confirmed that ultra-low powered processors (i.e 15W TDP) with Intel HD Graphics 520 uses a hybrid HEVC 10bit decoder that it may reach up to 4K 15Mbps 24 fps, thus it would be expected behavior seeing lag on some HEVC media that goes above these specs.

I hope this information clarifies the situation, and once again, I apologize it took us so long to reply back with a resolution.

Best Regards,

Ronald M.
