I have installed a game 'Valorant' which used to run fine. Until recently after I had reset the laptop from the setting options.

My game crashes due to a particular DDL.

The event viewer is showing the following:

I have used DDU and made a clean install multiple times. The game it work yesterday for a few hours after which it started giving the same error and the game crashes will starting it.

I have checked for all the updates and it is up-to-date.

This is happening frequently.

Hi @Saboteur,

Thank you for providing the necessary information. Based on the SSU log report, I noticed that your current graphics driver version is 32.0.101.6790, which is outdated. The latest version available is 32.0.101.7029, and it appears that previous update attempts may not have been successfully applied.

To ensure a clean installation, we’ll use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) and follow a step-by-step process. Please temporarily disable Windows Update during this procedure to avoid interference. You can follow the instructions in Windows* Update Rolling Back Graphics Driver to a Previous Version carefully—especially the part about not selecting "Execute Clean Installation" during the driver setup.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Download DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller).
  2. Download the latest graphics driver installer: version 32.0.101.7029.
  3. Boot into Windows Safe Mode:
  4. Press Win + R
  5. type, msconfig
    1. Go to the Boot tab → check Safe boot with Networking → click Apply and OK.
  6. Run DDU:
    1. Select all GPU options.
    2. Proceed with the uninstallation.
    3. Wait for the system to restart.
  7. Note: If the system doesn’t boot normally, don’t panic. Force restart using the power button.
  8. Once back in Windows:
    1. Open Device Manager and confirm the GPU is listed as Microsoft Display Adapter.
  9. Disable Safe Mode via
  10. type, msconfig
    1. Go to the Boot tab → Uncheck Safe boot with Networking → click Apply and OK.
    2. Restart
  11. Once back in Windows:
  12. Locate and run the graphics driver installer.
    1. Follow the on-screen instructions.
    2. Do not check the box for “Execute Clean Installation.”
  13. Reboot the system.
  14. After reboot:
    1. Verify the driver update in Device Manager and Intel Graphics Software.
    2. Launch the game and test for any crashes.

If the issue persists after this process, please let me know. We’ll proceed with Plan B which involved updating BIOS to its latest version., as I suspect this may be a driver conflict caused by the recent system reset.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Let me know how it goes or if you need further assistance.

Thank you for the all the steps you have provided but the issue still persists. The game crashes with the same error report.

Also in Device manager, it is yet saying Device not started as mentioned before. (Screenshot attached).

Let's move to Plan B

Hi @Saboteur,

Can we try performing a clean driver uninstall using DDU again, and then install graphics driver version 32.0.101.7076 instead? Please let me know if you notice any difference afterward. No need to update the BIOS, based on my checks, your current version is already the latest.

Hi @RandyT_Intel ,

After the update, the game seems to be working fine, no issues there but why the intel graphics still shows device not started in the events table of its properties (As shown earlier in the screenshot). That is the only concern now. Thanks

Hi @Saboteur,

Thank you for the update! I'm really glad to hear that your game is working perfectly fine after the 32.0.101.7076 update that's exactly what we wanted to achieve. Regarding your concern about the Intel graphics still showing "device not started" in the events table, let me explain what's likely happening here. What you're seeing in the Events tab is actually a history of previous events that occurred on your system, not current active problems. Think of it like a logbook that keeps track of everything that happened before, including when we were troubleshooting your original issue. Since your system performance, gaming experience, and overall stability are all working normally now, these event entries are most likely just historical records from when the system was having problems or during driver installations and updates. Sometimes Windows keeps showing these old events even after the issues are resolved, and it can also be a cosmetic error where the operating system repeatedly logs driver detection activities that aren't actually causing any real problems.

Here's what I'd recommend if you want to investigate this further: first, could you please take a fresh screenshot of your Device Manager right now showing the current status of your Intel Graphics device? This will help us see if there are any actual current issues versus just old logged events. You might also want to try rebooting your system completely and then check the events again to see if any new entries appear. Sometimes waiting for the next Windows update can also resolve these kinds of logging inconsistencies automatically. However, if you're still concerned about these specific Intel Graphics event messages and want a more detailed investigation, you could consider submitting a new support thread focused specifically on this Intel Graphics logging issue, or even better, contact your laptop manufacturer directly since they would have the most detailed insights about how their specific hardware interacts with Windows and what these particular error messages mean for your exact laptop model. But honestly, since your original gaming problem has been completely resolved and your system is performing well with good stability, this seems to be just a minor logging concern rather than something that's actually affecting your computer's functionality.

Please let me know if you need any other assistance from my end!
