Intel Graphics Software not saving my fan curve

My gpu fans just do not seem to wanna spin when i boot into windows. I start up the computer and while in BIOS and during start up the fans work perfectly. But as soon as windows boots up the fans shut off entirely. I downloaded intel graphics software and manually set the fan curve from there and the fans worked great! But when i restart the system 90% of the time it doesnt save my fan curve. Not always though? Sometimes it saves it perfectly. Other settings in the software like frame limiter, frame sync, display setting and the different game profiles all save just fine, but not the fan curve.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software a few times just to make sure it wasn't a corrupted install, reinstalling the installer as well just to make sure.

I'm giving this computer to a friend of mine and i dont want them to have to tweak the fans on startup every time so i wanna be sure any solution actually lasts.

Using a B580 btw if that changes anything.

Hello dragonfruitcake,

Thank you for posting in Intel Communities.

Intel® Graphics Software Performance Tuning is currently in Beta. As such, performance and features may behave unexpectedly. Intel® will continue to refine the Performance Tuning software in future releases. Please check Release Notes (ReleaseNotes_101.6559_WHQL.pdf)

May I ask what graphics driver version is currently installed on your system?

I will wait for your reply so I can proceed with checking this issue internally.

Best regards,

JeanetteC.

I ended up doing a clean windows install to see if that could help and now the fans turn off even in BIOS. Initially they only turned off when I entered windows but now they spin for a moment when starting my computer and will only turn on again if the card gets extremely hot or if i manually set the fan curve in the software on each startup.

Hello dragonfruitcake,

Good day.

I am still currently checking on this and need help with the following details below:

  1. When did the problem first occur, and was everything functioning correctly prior to this?
  2. Is the graphics card in question an Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition or a different version of the Arc B580?

Best regards,

JeanetteC.

The issue started specifically after I downloaded the Intel arc and iris Xe for the drivers. Once the software was all setup the base fan curve didn't actually kick in until the graphics card was hot to the touch. I was testing everything without the computer case as well so it should have run even cooler but it didn't seem to matter. Now the fans are just like that and there's nothing I can do to stop them from reverting once I restart the computer.
And it's specifically the sparkle titan version of the card.

Hello dragonfruitcake,

Kindly check the update below.

As per simulation results:

After rebooting the system, the IGS is missing from the system tray and unable to open the IGC manually.

Workaround:

1. End task the background process (IntelGraphicsSoftware.Service) from the task manager. (However, the performance tab is missing the tuning tab).

2. Manually re-install the Intel Graphics Software by extracting the files. Then all the available feature is now visible again.

Sorry I've taken so long to respond. I was building this computer for a friend of mine and I had given it to them and just told them how to adjust the fan curve, but apparently they haven't had to? They've restarted the computer multiple times and haven't run into the issue again. Apparently they updated the drivers a few days ago so that may have fixed it but as of right now, the problem just fixed itself!
