Intel HD 4000 No Display after loading Windows 7

I have a new build. Its a 3770k with an Asrock Fatal1ty Professional and 16Gb of Mushkin memory.

The computer has been working great all week. Then all of a sudden today after switching my display via a button on the front from VGA to DVI between my old rig and my new rig the screen no longer displays on my new rig. I also have 2 keyboards on my desk and may have hit a hot key and changed something, I'm not sure.

I have tried Windows Key + P to change to projection mode and get nothing.

After rebooting the screen works until after the windows 7 loading icon disapears then the screen goes into power save mode.

When booting into safemode the screen works fine.

When changing the resolution and then booting back out of safemode the screen does not load.

When deleting the Intel HD 4000 driver and restarting then the screen will load.

After reinstalling the Intel HD 4000 Driver the screen nolonger loads.

I don't know why its doing this but I am no longer able to use the HD 4000 with my intel driver installed. Which renders onboard video pretty much useless for anything but basic functions.

I have tried deleting and reinstalling the driver and also the monitor and its driver as well.

Nothing seems to work.

Is there some kind of keyboard shortcut to change display ports? I'm currently on HDMI and my board has both HDMI and displayport. I have no way to test if its working with the display port. Also I am using an HDMI to DVI cable already.

This is just really odd seeing how everything was working preffectly fine then all of a sudden, nothing just blank.

I can hear the computer load, even the sound. I can even type and login, but I'm unable to see anything.

Also I have tried to set onboard video as default in my bios and still nothing will load as long as the Intel HD4000 driver is installed.

I have tried two different drivers versions, they both do the same thing.

Any suggestions would be greatfull thanks.

Hi

It sounds like the driver has switched or lost track of which monitor is the default, so once it loads in Windows you lose the display.

Try removing your display completely and booting into Windows and try and log in (blind). Having no display connected might just get the drivers to re-evaluate what they need to do. Try plugging in your display once Windows is logged in, it should get detected and hopefully the drivers wil switch back to it.

If that doesn't help, try booting into safe mode, then from the start menu type msconfig, go to the Startup tab and remove the tick from the Intel Graphics application, then try rebooting in normal mode and see if it is okay now. If it is okay it will at least be running with the correct drivers and not in safe mode anymore, but you have lost the Intel utility to change settings, probably no bad thing.

The problem you have with uninstalling and reinstalling the HD driver is during uninstall it isn't clearing its settings, so once the driver goes back on, it picks up the same settings which results in it failing to send the video to your monitor.

If you are comfortable in doing so, uninstall the HD driver then browse the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software and see if you can find any entries for the Intel graphics, if yes rename the key (you could delete but renaming gives you the option of putting it back as it was). Also look in HKEY_LOCAL_USER. Then reinstall the driver and reboot.

Regards

Phil

Yeah ,, to get your system back to level I would recommend just Intel graphics. Get the system stable and the try running Virtu again. Make sure you have the http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=SABERTOOTH+Z77&p=1&s=39 latest BIOS from ASUS and thehttp://www.lucidlogix.com/driverdownloads.html latest Virtu software installed. You may want to contact Lucid before installing the 660Ti and see if they are aware of any issues with the configuration. Also make sure you have the latest http://www.nvidia.com/object/win8-win7-winvista-64bit-306.97-whql-driver.html Nvidia drivers for the 660Ti handy.

My system is leveled, fresh win7 install. All the drivers, bios etc are up to date. I don't wan't to run virtu, just wan't to install hd4000 driver without it going blank.. *sigh*

Is the BIOS on your motherboard the latest? Also,, have you installed the Intel HD Graphics driver posted on the ASUS download site that is the latest for your motherboard?

Yep, latest bios (1708). I tried both HD graphics driver, the one on asus site and the latest from intel. Both result in blank screen when i'm using the 660ti output. All I can do is revert to the last restore point.

You cannot use both cards simultaneously without using the Virtu software. You will have to either use just the Intel HD (integrated) Graphics or the Nvidia Graphics. Disable one or the other in the BIOS to use one as a standalone. If you want to use both, I recommend contacting LucidLogix tech support and work with them to configure Virtu to work on your system.

I don't want to use both cards. VirtuMVP has poor compatibility with most games yet. I just wanted to use QuickSync, as it reduces conversion/transcoding times to half. Since I paid for it, I assumed I would be able to use it, but since I can't install the Intel's driver..

I am having the exact same issue as others are describing, and I am using Intel motherboard DH77DF with ivy bridge i5.

Both monitors (DVI & HDMI) go blank right after the windows logo (windows 8). Only way to get it working again was remote-desktop from another computer and roll-back (or re-install) display adapter driver. I updated bio & all drivers to most recent ones and it made no difference.

Any event that puts the computer in sleep will cause this issue again.

As someone in this thread said, I will order a HDMI-DVI converter cable and connect it to the second monitor's DVI port. I will report back what happens.

I am using an Asus P8Z77-I Deluxe motherboard with an i5-3570K CPU and am having issues with the second display (only the TV) randomly not turning on. What i would recommend to Intel staff is to boot up into Windows 7 with only the monitor on, turn on the TV after instead of before post, right click the desktop and choose Screen Resolution, choose detect display and you should notice it will not find the second monitor (extended desktop) then work from that. (when i had an 8800 GTX it worked flawlessly)

Oh, i tried switching the cables around for Samsung 932GW monitor and LG RZ32LZ55 TV (using dvi to dvi-d and hdmi to dvi-d with most recent drivers from intel site, as experienced same from driver disc and driver on manufacturer site) but no joy.

Edit: Added i use extended desktop

New Edit: As a quick fix attempt for some people with problems, try shutting down computer, change the channels so it then goes back to DVI channel and then boot up computer. For some reason my tv seems to be picked up after (note that there is no off button on my TV - weird how they now force standby instead of proper power saving - so could be a factor with onboard graphics)

Guys... Yesterday I changed my mobo from maximus v gene to formula. Here is what happened and whats the problem -

1. When I installed Windows 8, PC hangs at the first startup iteslf. There is no display on monitor and keyboard+mouse are freezed. I tried to get into Safe Mode but it can not saying "installation can not continue into safe mode".

2. After much tries found out that my gfx cards (2 x HD7950) might have been the causes so installed windows 8 once again using on-board gfx only. Now windows got installed properly but still I'm unable to get into it if I plug in my gfx cards. I can go into safe mode though.

3. I gave up and installed Windows 7. It got installed perfectly but the issue is with onboard gfx now .... The divece manager shows Intel HD graphics with a warning icon and description as "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)". I installed latest AMD drivers and played some games as well. But shall I be worried ? As whenever I try to install Intel HD drivers my machine hangs and I'm also unable to install windows 8 pro. What is causing this issue with HD7950 drivers & Intel drivers? Please anybody from Intel reply to posts here.

My PC configuration is -

CPU + Mobo :: Core i5 3570K + Asus Maximus V Formula

CPU Cooler :: CM Hyper 212 Evo - 2 Fans

GFX :: Asus HD7950 Direct CUII + Sapphire HD7950 Dual-X

RAM :: GSkill TridentX 2400 CL10 16GB

Storage :: Corsair SSD - 60GB + Seagate Baracuda - 1TB

PSU :: Corsair AX 850

Cabinet :: Silverstone Raven RV03

Keyboard + Mouse :: Razer Arctosa + Razer DeathAdder

Display :: AOC e2352Phz

new HDMI-DVI converter arrived (dual link one, although I am not sure if this has anything to do with the outcome), and after connecting the computer/monitor using this one (HDMI on computer, DVI on monitor), the issue is gone. I restarted multiple times to confirm and at all times both monitors stayed on after windows log-on. Since some others reported that doing this didn't fix it and some others said it did, I guess it really depends. Just FYI.

In my experience the success of solutions appear in a few days ....

On my report the problem manifested itself sometimes 5, sometimes 20 days.

Good luck. 🙂

Hello Jan Vasko, you said "It is not a problem of graphic driver" but i am wondering if it is indeed the problem of graphic firmware. My graphic bios is currently 2124.0 and i imagine that the other motherboards would be using the same BIOS, our motherboards seem to be different manufacturers, can you:

right click the desktop

graphic properties

options and support

information center

and in bottom section tell me your 'Video BIOS' number.

If it is not the integrated graphics then maybe it is how the motherboard companies are working from the Intel CPU. Either way it seems its not being able to recognise the signal because its only trying to find a received signal, not sending a signal down the port to see if it finds anything.

I am currently waiting for my TV to stop working again to see if its because i have set my motherboard options to fast boot without logo, post report 1 second, raid currently temporarily disabled (absolutely love Intel's RAID by the way). I don't see any post information at all, after booting up PC the first thing i see is the windows loading logo shortly after and so will test to see if its because of that when i can.

Edit: Hmm, i am wondering if my motherboard is damaged because when i entered bios just the TV hadn't resized the information properly this time and looked humongous with some shadowed information (like bios number almost showing as if scaled properly).

Thanks Martin, disappointing there not all the same.

Edit: Post screen information showing has no affect.

I doubt it's the firmware. Mine is version 2137.

Strangest thing just happened...I did another reinstall of Windows today because I got a new SSD and some older harddrives went out. I left my PC to download some games from Steam with the monitor off, and then I noticed my TV had detected my PC as a source. So I switched to my HDMI 2 output and there it was...Windows in all its colours. I have no idea why it worked now. I previously tried several beta drivers from Intel after the latest release didn't work, and after my reinstall I just installed the latest version as well. Well, I'm happy...I just hope it keeps working now.

I have been watching this thread for long time to see Intel's reaction to the fact. I can assure everyone that it the intel driver which is culprit.

My system is

Intel i5 3470

DH77EB

4 GB Ram

500 watt PSU

Samsung 22 " LED HD monitor SB300B

And rest all as others.

I built this system. First I try to install windows 8 pro. It completes all stages of initial file installation. After first reboot when it customizes the screen and installs all visual drivers and other driver, it failed and said you computer needs to restarts. Same thing went on till I left the hope of installing windows 8.

Now I start installing windows 7 64Bit Ultimate. It installed. I can open my system in a basic mode with no intel driver installed.

Now I install intel CD full. Computer restarts. BIOS > WINDOWS SWIRLING LOGO> Then a screen where all colors are scattered but no login screen. I went into safe mode restored and again VGA mode enabled and all is okay. See device manager for graphics option. It shows "standard VGA adapter" instead of intel HD graphic adapter.

Again I start intel driver install. But now I untick the Intel Grahic Accelerator driver and install all other driver. Now system reboots successfully and everything is okay but display is basic vga mode with windows rating of 1 for aero experience rating 1. No aero. I can not play windows inbuilt game yet. Poor quality display.

Now I install the intel graphic driver and again scattered colored display with nothing to go windows desktop screen. When I disable the login the displays goes black instead of scattered color login screen. My BIOS is latest. Driver is latest.

So, I understand that it is the DVI-I port which is not working. I bought HDMI TO DVI-D cable and do the same. This time no display signal at all.

After this I would say intel is the worst company to deal with. I shall go for AMD now. But I want say you guys that if I need to buy graphics card and so many new cables to run a well built computer then what is the use of this low quality intel inbuilt HD graphic CARD. INTEL should reduce cost of its product for their low quality class.

BTW, My solution which should work for all. WHO have a monitor with two port one VGA one DVI

Do as I say.

1. Connect DVI-I (COMPUTER) ----> VGA (MONITOR)

2. Install windows 7 any bit.

3. Now install all intel driver except the intel Graphics driver.

4. Now shut down computer.

5. Connect second cable from hdmi(computer) ----> DVI(monitor)

6. Now Boot on your computer. You will see that now your monitor can detect a DVI signal which was VGA previously

7. Install intel graphics driver.

8. Restart your computer and see aero is in action. In this mode your computer is in extended desktop mode. Now right click in desktop > select intel graphic option > display > select digital(This will discard the extended monitor which will permanently disable the vga graphic monitor.

You are done. No problem now.

But this procedure need your monitor have two display port. You need t spend extra money. Your computer are connected via two cable. Lots of time.

This is why I hate intel.

Explanation:

Intel graphic driver is a corrupt, It can not detect three different display out of the motherboard, which are 1. display port, 2.hdmi port, 3. DVI-I port. Intel graphic driver is so written that it will only detect other display port if DVI-I is coneected as the primary port. This is pure coding error of the intel graphic driver. Intel driver has not been written for low resolution display. They should write a code for supporting low resolution display monitor in their driver.

This only denotes the inability of the intel driver code writer. If it was a issue with hardware or cable I would never get a digital output with this modification in my system. The intel graphic driver can not assign all hardware correctly. That is why we all having this problem. And above all if you say installing a graphics card is solution then why spend extra money for intel integrated grapics ?

The problem isn't about cables, no. But I can understand Intel - if they can't reproduce the problem,

how can they fix it?

Guess I'll see what comes first - driver fix or nvidia 780 card.

Just bought an AsRock Extreme 6 mother board and a I7 3770K processeor with HD 4000 graphics and I am have the same issue.

Was installing Windows 8 everything was fine then after the installation reboot shows the windows boot logo then black screen no display detected. I am using a DVI cable to a older ViewSonic monitor. I am going to try my Samsung LED TV with HDMI when I get home and will post results.

Spent hours researching this and hours more trying to install an OS. Also tried Windows 7 that is when I realized it was a Intel Graphics Driver issue. Once installed and I updated Windows with the ones Intel drivers from Windows this is when the screen went black.

I just registered to voice my concern here as well. You need to fix this Intel. I mean this is your flagship processor.

I have two viewsonic lcd monitors (vx2035wm, vx2235wm). they both have vga and dvi ports. I also have an Asus p8z68 v pro/gen3 motherboard with an ivy bridge i5 3750 cpu. The motherboard has 1 vga, 1 dvi, and 1 hdmi video output. I'm using the hd 4000 graphics on the cpu for my video. My OS is window 7 ultimate 64 bit.

I'm having the same digital no signal problem as everyone else. My 22" screen works perfect with the dvi or hdmi video outputs but the 20" will only work in analog mode. It will show the post screen then the windows 7 startup icon then go to digital no signal.. when in analog mode it boots all the way..

In the resolution properties I only can see the 22" when the 20" is using the dvi port and can see both monitors when the 20" is using the vga port.

If it were a hd graphics problem I would think that I wouldn't be able to use the dvi port on the 22" monitor as well... I'm wondering if I have a corrupt edid on the 20" monitor...

What do you guys think?

I should also note, since attaching a DVI-D to HDMI adapter, I can use the DVI port on my ASROCK z77 extreme4 board with these 2 caveats:

1) When restarting, many times no display will come up until the logon screen. (When starting from full shutdown it would show the bios screen and swirling windows 7 logo).

2) When monitor goes to sleep (turn display off after 20 minutes setting in power options), many times the monitor will go to sleep but will return to a black screen WHICH CAN be worked around by WINDOWS+L key (Lock) and display will come on at the login screen. (Or alternately I can turn off monitor with monitor power button and then back on and it will come back on.)

Maybe these two oddities will shed some more light on what is happening with the black screens. It is as if the wake up signal is not being sent correctly.

i'm using a P8Z77-V Deluxe in an HTPC setup. Whenever I change the HDMI input to another device (blu-ray) and return to the HTPC the video turns to snow. I end up having to reboot to get video back. This happens when turning the TV off also. My workaround is to use an adapter DP to active DVI and then another adapter DVI to HDMi. Video is then stable but I have no audio. I tried a DP to HDMI adapter and I get no video, blank screen.

Please resolve this issue.

i have seen a few P8Z77-V Deluxes in here. Any connection with Asus specifically?
