I have a new build. Its a 3770k with an Asrock Fatal1ty Professional and 16Gb of Mushkin memory.
The computer has been working great all week. Then all of a sudden today after switching my display via a button on the front from VGA to DVI between my old rig and my new rig the screen no longer displays on my new rig. I also have 2 keyboards on my desk and may have hit a hot key and changed something, I'm not sure.
I have tried Windows Key + P to change to projection mode and get nothing.
After rebooting the screen works until after the windows 7 loading icon disapears then the screen goes into power save mode.
When booting into safemode the screen works fine.
When changing the resolution and then booting back out of safemode the screen does not load.
When deleting the Intel HD 4000 driver and restarting then the screen will load.
After reinstalling the Intel HD 4000 Driver the screen nolonger loads.
I don't know why its doing this but I am no longer able to use the HD 4000 with my intel driver installed. Which renders onboard video pretty much useless for anything but basic functions.
I have tried deleting and reinstalling the driver and also the monitor and its driver as well.
Nothing seems to work.
Is there some kind of keyboard shortcut to change display ports? I'm currently on HDMI and my board has both HDMI and displayport. I have no way to test if its working with the display port. Also I am using an HDMI to DVI cable already.
This is just really odd seeing how everything was working preffectly fine then all of a sudden, nothing just blank.
I can hear the computer load, even the sound. I can even type and login, but I'm unable to see anything.
Also I have tried to set onboard video as default in my bios and still nothing will load as long as the Intel HD4000 driver is installed.
I have tried two different drivers versions, they both do the same thing.
Any suggestions would be greatfull thanks.
Hi
It sounds like the driver has switched or lost track of which monitor is the default, so once it loads in Windows you lose the display.
Try removing your display completely and booting into Windows and try and log in (blind). Having no display connected might just get the drivers to re-evaluate what they need to do. Try plugging in your display once Windows is logged in, it should get detected and hopefully the drivers wil switch back to it.
If that doesn't help, try booting into safe mode, then from the start menu type msconfig, go to the Startup tab and remove the tick from the Intel Graphics application, then try rebooting in normal mode and see if it is okay now. If it is okay it will at least be running with the correct drivers and not in safe mode anymore, but you have lost the Intel utility to change settings, probably no bad thing.
The problem you have with uninstalling and reinstalling the HD driver is during uninstall it isn't clearing its settings, so once the driver goes back on, it picks up the same settings which results in it failing to send the video to your monitor.
If you are comfortable in doing so, uninstall the HD driver then browse the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software and see if you can find any entries for the Intel graphics, if yes rename the key (you could delete but renaming gives you the option of putting it back as it was). Also look in HKEY_LOCAL_USER. Then reinstall the driver and reboot.
Regards
Phil

I searched all posts in this thread for "DisplayPort" and came to the conclusion that the problem of getting no signal (after installing the HD 4000 driver) is specific to HDMI and DVI (including DVI via HDMI). The two posts describing a problem with DisplayPort seem to be about a different (perhaps related) problem.
Has anybody tried an active DisplayPort to DVI adapter like this one (Sapphire 44000-02-40R)?

Good news: For Windows XP, driver 6.14.10.5436 works for me, whereas 6.14.10.5421 didn't.
(However, the Linux driver seems to have much better 3D performance than the Windows XP driver.)
Still waiting for a working driver for Windows 7...
I connected both the VGA and DVI cables from my monitor to the motherboard's VGA and DVI ports and was able to boot into Windows 7 (through the VGA connection). I then found the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 adapter from the device manager and then disabled the adapter and enabled it again straight after. It then discovered my DVI monitor immediately and I could disconnect the VGA cable. Not sure if it will work for other people but it worked for me.
Hi,
I'm a french user, sorry for my bad english !
I have a 2500K and I can't use monitor on DVI !
I change for an 3570K and it's the same !
I have a P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 which works fine but when I boot, DVI is disable after windows loading !
For enable DVI, I must disable and enable HD4000 in control panel.
And then, I have my dual screen (DVI + VGA) !
It's very bad issue and I'm very unhappy with this driver.
When INTEL make us a new driver ?
I had Windows 7 on my Dell N7010 i5 64bit and then installed Windows8. Didn't like Windows8 on my laptop, so I re-installed my Windows 7. When W8 was installed I tried to use my HDMI port and it didn't work, then after re-installing W7 it still does not work. I have installed the drivers right from Dell, with no luck. When I tried the Intel HD graphic drivers they would not install on my system. What is the fix for this? I have spent many hours trying to get this to work. I currently have installed:
Driver Revision: 15.17.3.64.2104 April 5, 2010
Package: 91765
*
* Graphics: 8.15.10.2104
* Display Audio Driver: 6.12.00.3047

Hello everyone,
Just wanted to update this thread with information that exists in other black-screen threads. This issue is not restricted to the HD 4000, and is being experienced on many different configurations. We at Intel® are unable to reproduce the problem though, because it's very hardware specific. We can purchase the same TV, cable, and system that you have - and we'll likely still not be able to reproduce the problem (yes, we've tried). We have been attempting to get a hold of a complete system (system/cable/display) which is shown to have the black-screen issue, and so far have come up short.
I will ask in this thread as I have in others - if you have a failing configuration (complete) that you are willing to provide to us, we will be able to diagnose the problem, and work on getting it resolved. If you feel that your system is reliably and consistently hitting the black-screen issue, and would like to provide your complete system to us, please send me a private message and we'll see if we can't work something out!
Thank you for your time and patience,
-Nic

Hello,
Just want you to know that I'm experiencing the same issue: HDMI out works only during boot.
Since in the past, on other full hd devices, I had experienced the problem of low quality cables, I own a lot of cables and in particular, 2 of these, are of very very good quality...regardless the cable in use the hdmi doesn't work after boot.
My configuration is:
-operating system: Windows 8
-mother board: asus p8z77-v LX2
-ram: Patriot Viper 1866mhz 2x8gb
-processor: intel i7 3770k
-hard disk: intel x25m 2.5'' 80gb.

-psu: Enermax 650w etl650awt
Can't send you my system because I live in Italy and I need it for my job.
Thanks in advance for your support.
We are currently having this problem in our corporate environment using ASUS ET2012EUTS All-In-One stations. When we install the Intel HD Graphics Drivers and reboot the main display in the All-In-One is black after Windows logo finishes, external monitors work fine. They come with an Intel Pentium G630 Processor which has the HD 2000 Graphics family. Currently are having issues installing any Intel Driver, either those supplied via ASUS website or direct from Intel.
We are running Windows 7 64-Bit
Asus Recommended Driver:

I have the same problem but, if I turn on the system in safe mode it works just fine, so I uninstalled intel HD Graphics driver "GFX_Win7_8_64_9.17.10.3071" and it turned my computer on normally.
But later windows installed default drivers and after restart same problem re appeared.
So the problem is with the drivers.
Note: This problem appeared when I removed all the cables and re plugged in, the same driver worked just fine before that.

Ok I had to re-register due to the silly password rules here... who is going to remember special characters?
Anyway.....update....
Ok I have found out a few things....but I am still having the SAME PROBLEM and it is ANNOYING.
1) power on in the morning
2) I hear the windows log on chime, but screen is black.
3) For some odd reason a few weeks ago I decided NOT to "reboot" but just left it alone to see what happened.
4) in about 10 minutes (yes--literally 10 LONG minutes) the log on screen appears, correct resolution everything is perfect. BTW I have 2 "users" on this computer.... my "work" and "home" so when I say log on screen....I am speaking of the choice to select from my 2 "users". I have done this several times.
5) When I am impatient and don't have 10 minutes to boot I hit the hard reset and my screen goes to the log in screen.... but it is in SAFE MODE.....then i reset again and select "start windows normally".
6) Then, if I shutdown and within a few minutes restart...I have no issues. It is only when I cold start in the morning. why? I am in Florida...it's not that cold.
There is no question in my mind that this is a driver issue. Here's why....
1) I do not touch my computer, bios, monitor or change a single thing anywhere and eventually the computer works fine.
1.5) I have not completely ruled out some sort of voltage issue, but once again this is ON THE CHIP so how can I isolate it?
2) When the screen does finally pop up after 10 minutes it is 100% fine
3) I see alot of transitioning, i.e. screen flashing during switching users and booting (more than normal), etc... so I know it is some sort of resolution/driver issue.
I REALLY would like INTEL to fix this driver issue.
I also registered to tell my story about this bug.
Intel DH61CR motherboard
Intel Core i3 3220 processor
4 GB Kingston
no external vga
Everything works fine until i install the HD Graphics driver. From that point on Windows fails to load or crashes a few minutes to a couple of hours later. I only tried using VGA cable.
Tried with a new motherboard, Gigabyte B75M-D3H, same problem.
Run memtest, no errors.
An easy test was to try this Kingston memory on a AMD system. I got the same crashes, windows didn't boot at all!
Got a replacement memory, same vendor and series, also no video. Installed this memory on the old system, it worked. So i'm using the old 4 GB Kingston memory from the old system on this Intel PC, and the new 4 GB Kingston on the old PC.
Its a Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G if anyone is interested.
I have read and read and read all over the web trying to isolate the actual cause of this problem.
The biggest problem I have in isolating it is that it ONLY happens in the morning during my first power on. After it FINALLY comes on after 10-30 minutes I don't have the problem anymore so I cannot troubleshoot. Once it comes on...everything runs perfectly.
In all my years of building machines and with my moderate to deep knowledge of computers....I am truly for the first time STUMPED....and this is after DAYS of research.
It happens on vga, dvi, and hdmi. Monitor only takes vga and dvi but I use an adapter. I have switched cables. I have unplugged and replugged at every stage. I have switched on and off. I have adjusted every relevant BIOS settings one at a time.
I hear windows log on, but screen says no signal. Sometimes if I leave it alone it will come on.... sometimes it will not.
My last resort is to update my monitor. But I think I would have to be committed to an asylum if I buy a new monitor and the same issue happens.
Gigabyte Z77X-UP5 TH rev 1.0
Intel i7 3770k (stock)
INTEL HD 4000 IGFX (no dedicated card)
4 x 8 GB GSKILL ARES 1866 RAM
Windows 7 Professional (x64) Service Pack 1 (build 7601)
ViewSonic VX2245wm
We have a client with the same issue.
Computer System:
MS Windows 8 (Fully updated)
Intel DB75EN Motherboard (BIOS & Drivers up to date)
Intel Core i5-3470 3.2Ghz
Kingston 8GB DDR3-1600 Memory
Seagate ST31000524AS Hybrid Drive
BENQ G2320HDBL Monitors
MS Wireless 800 Keyboard & Mouse
DMI-D Cables for Primary Monitor & VGA Cable for Secondary Monitor
Dual Monitor mode: Extended
The problem comes if the user logs out, screensave requires password or if sleep mode is initiated. The priomary DVI port turns off on the motherboard and takes a reboot to reinitiate the DVI port. Same occurs monitors and/or cables are replaced.
Can anyone from Intel get off their lazy arse and FLY OUT TO MEET some of the people in this thread? wouldn't this be worth taking a few thousand off of Intel's astronomical bottom line? No one is going to send you their machine.
This is ridiculous, I purposely waited for the 4000 and now I have to reset 20-30x every morning to get my monitor on. Once it IS on it is 100 perfect, so how can this be a cable? I have switched from hdmi to dvi to vga reloaded everything 6 times. In the morning, I get no splash screen, no bios, no post, then i hear windows log on, then "no signal" HOWEVER, once it comes on.....everything is great.... I can power down and restart within 5 minutes and it will reboot with bios, splash screens, all visible.
I can only imagine part of this issue is with older monitors, some PNP issue, or voltage?
Either way I think I am going to RMA this POS 3770k with the (HD -- high deficiency) 4000.
If anyone thinks Intel is SERIOUSLY DROPPING THE BALL on this.....continue to post on this thread. I'm sorry.... but if you mean to tell me you can't send a technician and a programmer with tools etc. to some of our residences, it is a shame.
OK so nice to see that many many people are having these driver problems, ot so nice to see that Intel seems to be playing the "We can't see the problem" game.
Just put together a new system; ASUS B85M-G MB (nice board BTW, and great phone support, recommend !), INTEL 5 processor, SSD drive, Win 7 Pro,all works great, except the integrated Intel DVI port is not normally recognized once windows starts to boot. I down loaded the INTEL HD driver install exe from the INTEL site, ver 9.18.10.3165, and run it. When I run it, voila, the DVI port comes to life and I have a dual monitor system (DVI + VGA). But if I reboot, restart, sleep-awake, you name it, no joy, back to only a VGA system. Rerun the HD driver install, and DVI dual again ! But I have to run it everytime !!! Sucks big time. With the SSD the system boots in 20 sec, except I have to manually rerun the HD installer.
I have not yet tried to remove the INTEL HD driver completely, not sure if I can run dual with the "standard" drivers. I suspect Windoz will try and make me use the Intel driver.
Intel, we need a fix for this, or else we will all have to recommend to the world not to buy any MB with INTEL integrated graphics, and go get an NVIDIA or whatever. It is obviously a driver problem, across many platforms, MB's, monitors, cables, you name it. FIX THE DRIVER !!! please
