Intel HD Graphics 4000 - Directv2pc - screen capture protection not supported error

I have the Lenovo Yoga 13 w/i7, 8GB RAM, and Integrated Intel HD 4000. The Directv2pc works no problem on other systems but not this new Lenovo. Any advice on how to enable the screen capture protection? Let me know if any debugging info is desired. Thanks.

Thanks again for the info Brad. I'm a little concerned as to whether this will work, based on the fact that your system uses Embedded Display Port (eDP) which is a newer technology, and is having problem with DirecTV2PC.

I've forwarded your issue up to one of our specialists though, I'll update this when I get a response.

Thanks,

-Nic

I have the same problem with the same error message on my new Dell XPS 12. It has the same graphics card. I'd love a solution as this program worked great on my last laptop.

Thanks!

Hi psrendall,

Can you provide a copy of your dxdiag please? (Start -> Run -> DxDiag -> Save All Information). Also, I need a copy of your Intel Graphics Report, instructions on how to get that are located here; http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/cs-009476.htm http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/cs-009476.htm

Thanks,

Thanks for the info - Can you check the same spot where you got that second report, under the drop-down for "Built-In Monitor" and tell me if it's using connection type: eDP or LVDS?

Also, can you update the following software:

1. Update to Dell's* latest display driver for your system; http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/xps-12-l221x?driverId=J87MC&osCode=W864&fileId=3153887030&languageCode=en Driver Details | Dell US

2. Update to Dell's* latest Management Engine driver for your system; http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/xps-12-l221x?driverId=DRCC7&osCode=W864&fileId=3153881702&languageCode=en Driver Details | Dell US

3. Update your Microsoft* .NET Framework to the latest version; http://www.microsoft.com/net/download/version-4 Download .NET for: Desktop, Server & Development | Microsoft .NET Framework

After getting the above information for me, and installing these updates - let me know if the situation has improved at all.

Thanks,

-Nic

For anyone still wanting to look into this issue. I have been informed that HDCP is controlled by the Intel® Management Engine driver. These are provided exclusively by OEM's though (unless you are using an Intel® motherboard). Seek out the driver from your OEM, install it - and see if you are still seeing the invalid-HDCP pop-up. Let me know if there is any improvement or not too please

Thanks,

-Nic

If you guys want a simple fix that worked for me, here it is:

1. Right-click on the Directv2pc icon and select 'properties'.

2. Click the 'compatibility' tab and select to run under Windows 2000 compatibility. Also check the box next to 640x800.

3. Exit and right click on your desktop. Choose Graphics Properties. Select 'Advanced Mode'. And change your color depth to 16 bit.

4. Re-run the app.

This was the fix for me. Let me know if it worked for you.

I had the same problem with the screen capture protection error and tried almost everything from earlier posts.. Switching the theme to high contrast black. is what worked for me. Im not sure what setting it changed but I have no problem streaming sd or hd now.

I got the direct pc to work by running compatibility to windows xp service pack 2. Then adjusting to a high contrast theme. It will only work once when you open a show. If you want to open another recording you have to quit the program and restart it. Goodluck.

Joe -

I'm running Win 8 basic on a Lenovo # 5480 and cannot get Directv to work off of their recorders. However, it does work quite well when you just want Online Viewing.

When you have to record a program and then play it back from the DVR, I get the Unprotected data stream error.

I see that this has been going on since January. Directv says it is a problem with the Lenovo driver. Lenovo says it is a problem with the driver for the Intel 4000 card and had me switch to the newest Intel driver.

Six months to fix a hard failure is a bit unreasonable, not impossible but difficult to believe. Given the exposure level of this failure (millions of customers across every laptop or desktop using this card and varied operating systems) you'd think Intel would have the fix already.

Has anyone from Intel even acknowledged that this is their bug yet?

Don

DirecTV2PC Playback Advisor was giving me grief about screen capture protection, so I updated the Intel HD Graphics 4000 card graphics driver on my new Lenovo T310s, running Win7 Pro 64b. That fixed that problem, but now its complaining about the Graphics Card Driver 9.17.10.2843, with a big fat red "NO" on compatibility. What next? Here's the DPA Log:

Hello everyone,

To provide a general summary of the issue and the lack of resolution, please read the following:

http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-034413.htm Graphics — DirecTV2PC* on Intel Graphics

The software is no longer being maintained or updated by either its provider, or its author. As newer driver software is released, as well as newer operating systems - the lack of functionality/compatibility between Intel® graphics products and the ability for this software to function will continue to worsen.

If you would like to see the DirecTV2PC* software updated - I would recommend contacting DirecTV* directly and providing that feedback to them.

This thread is now locked.

Thank you,

-Nic
