Intel HD Graphics 630 10 bit video support / DVI-D Dual Link display resolution support

Hi!

Please clarify if Intel HD Graphics 630 (i7-7700k processor) together with the latest Intel Graphics Driver v.15.65.5.4982 does support a 10 bit video output for every color channel (OpenGL or DirectX Windows 10 64 bit).

Please specify the port (DP or HDMI) which supports 10 bit color output and how to enable this feature in Intel driver software if applicable.

For instance, in ATI Radeon software there is a special checkbox available to switch on/off this function.

This feature is a must have for Color-Critical Display support.

If the latest Intel HD Graphics does not support 10 bit video output please advise whether this function be available in future or there are some hardware limitations for i7-7700k processor.

Also important, whether the processor graphics supports DVI-D Dual Link display connection with total display resolution of 2560x1440@60Hz?

My inquiry is not about video decoder, yet re display rendering.

I need to connect a professional monitor with 10-bit per color channel support (30=bit color, Deep Color) using the embedded Intel HD Graphics 630.

In the Specification Document you referred (Datasheet, Vol. 1: 7th Gen Intel® Processor Family for S Platforms) please find the following in Table 2-19 (p.37):

Display Technologies Support:

Display Port* 1.2

HDMI* 1.4

*…supports Deep Color…

Deep Color means 10-bit color display rendering technology.

As I understood from paragraph 2.4 of the Document (Processor Graphics) 10 bit rendering video is supported for DP resolutions and depends on the driver software.

Thus, my question is still valid:

Whether the latest Intel Graphics Driver v.15.65.5.4982 supports 10 bit Deep Color rendering for DP or DVI port interface?

Whether the driver supports DVI-D Dual Link display connection with total display resolution of 2560x1440@60Hz?

I just received the following information from our engineering team that I understand will answer your questions:

1. Deep Color is supported on HDMI and DP. Generally speaking, we do not have yet an option in Graphics Control Panel to manually select 8bpp, 10bpp or 12bpp. However, if the panel is 10-bit and the application supports 10-bit, then the driver will automatically enable it. Currently, there is no OpenGL* support for 10/12 bit with Intel Graphics driver, only DirectX*.

Hello. I have Intel hd graphics 630 in an Alienware 13 R3. When using the thunderbolt port direct to HDMI, The driver detects my monitor as an HDTV instead of a monitor, and sets the bit depth to 8. The Nvidia panel is sending 12 bit with HDR. The nvidia 1060 detects the panel correctly, and allows HDR. The intel does not. I have tried reinstalling... I have tried forcing it. I have asked both Dell and Intel and they confirmed support...

cpu is i7-7700HQ

Using thunderbolt 3 port. (thunderbolt driver is installed)

The symptom - it appears as though it is using RGB-LIMITED. The contrast is off, blacks are appearing grey.
