Intel Iris XE shows Intel UHD Graphics

Hello and thanks for your time!

So I have purchased an HP 250 G9 Laptop with i5 1235u and integrated Intel Iris XE Graphics. The display adapter only says Intel UHD Graphics (no version whatsoever). I've already updated the graphics driver to the latest version available on intel.com.

I've read that in order to display Intel Iris XE the RAM must work in dual channel, however, the current laptop only has one 8 GB stick of ram so this must be the issue.

I just want to confirm that this laptop has an actual Intel Iris XE and if not, then I will return the product.

You'll find the system log attached below.

Thanks a lot!

Hello laurianstefan,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

As you mentioned, the single-channel memory configurations will default to less than 80 EUs, in alignment with Intel® UHD Graphics branding. To properly enable Iris® Xe Graphics, the system must be in dual-channel memory configuration.

You can be sure you have Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics eligible as stated on the processor specifications https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/226266/intel-core-i51235u-processor-12m-cache-up-to-4-40-ghz-with-ipu.html

Feel free to run the Intel® Processor Identification Utility (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/12136/intel-processor-identification-utility-windows-version.html) to identify the processor.

Let me know if you have any concerns.

Best regards,

The Intel UHD can be described as an average integrated graphics processor. Also, it is somewhat slower than the Intel UHD G1 and Intel Iris Plus G4 / G7 GPUs. Just like its Intel UHD 620 similarly-specced precursor, the Intel UHD should be able to run decently smooth many of the most popular games.
